2013 is the Year of the Next Generation

Dec 31, 2012 10:35

As last year's resolution to Make A Baby did not come to fruition, it tops the charts for 2013. Therefore I'm looking at this year as an extension of last year's Year of the Enterprise. 2013 is the now the Year of the Next Generation! This year's theme is one of going with my gut, trusting my emotional instincts, and resisting the urge to self-edit ( Read more... )

Have you at least identified good black market sources so that if you have to go that route you can make the purchase by year end? ;-)

Amazon.com FTW! traceroo December 31 2012, 17:51:47 UTC
Rick, you are like lightning on that reply button!

I sure wish I could get a baby from Amazon.com! I've got an Amazon Prime membership, and that means free shipping which can really get costly with a human infant!

Alas, I must settle for a nice book I bought through Amazon a few months ago which details lots of adoption options. The very broad headline for a domestic adoption is: Probably 2.5 years total process, and $25,000-$30,000 in various fees! Wowza!

That is actually the main reason we're starting with the fertility clinic as one last college try to do this ourselves -- I can't really say "the old fashioned way" in that case, but, well, you know! If successful, that may be the most expedient, and least expensive route to take, even though neither of our medical insurances covers fertility procedures, and it's all out of pocket. That first consultation appointment is this Friday, January 4th -- wish us luck!

You and your wife experienced what this atheist could genuinely believe is a true miracle the way your son arrived in your life, and everything worked out so nicely. It makes me believe that you are indeed a true good luck charm, so I'll take your good wish with relish, thank you! :)

Happy New Year to you too Trace.

2012 was baby-year for me...

... and I now know how blessed (using the word loosely here) motherhood is!

I think you will too :). I wish you good luck!

2013 will be a year of soul searching for you, I know. You have the power to rebuild your world into whatever image you want. You can become whomever you want to be... sounds exhausting, I know! Now is the time just to remember how to dream a little bit, and see what strikes you next. :)

As always, you are insightful in your goals (I won't call them resolutions). I was wondering if you'd go with a "make it so" theme, and I'm glad to see that you did.

That said, I wish you nothing but the best in your quest for mommy hood -- whichever way it turns out (biological, adoptive, surrogate).

On a side note: after trying for a couple of years, one of my best friends started the process of adoption, and received their baby last year. It became final just before Christmas this year. The wait was well worth it for her, and I know no matter what happens, the wait will be just as worth it for you. :-)
