Using your powers for good, for evil, or for awesome

I'm thinking about the nature of Good and Evil tonight. Given that I don't believe in any god, or outside power which mandates some cosmic definition for what these things mean, I can apply only the understanding that these are social constructions. First, Huzzah! I shall start to think about how Dracoralae feels about this topic, and then she can speak up in the next school. :oD

Second, what a great philosophical debate, whith out trying to answer anything, or state my opinions (I don't want to go down this rabbit hole while I am at work or I will never get anything done today)I want to add another question that came to mind.

As you said, there are somethings that are evil despite time and place, but others which are more subjective. Even those universally evil acts may not be what they seem (I'm thinking the aliens in Enders game here, the perspective of earth was one thing, but then you find out they were wrong. This leads into my question. At what point when you are fighting "evil" relentlessly do you become evil yourself? I think this ties into your "making peace" scenario that you mentioned bringing up. I'm excited for this because not only is it a fascinating topic, but I think it will tie in well to the Dominion story line. :o)

Exactly!

With that detailed perspective, you see partially where I'm taking this topic. What is the purpose of fighting evil? Is it to make peace, or an attempt to attain perfection in the world?

When you get to the part about the time to make peace, the idea of branding your enemies as "evil" in the first place becomes very sticky.

"Putting down undead is plucking the low-hanging fruit of doing the right thing."

Can I quote that at that other game you played? I'll give you credit!
