I DO NOT KNOW HOW THAT COULD HAPPEN!! Well, I do know: Into Darkness happened :)
I love the movie so much, it just grabbed me and I didn't stand a chance. I love every character in it and I even like Uhura and I want to cosplay Carol (I NEED to find blue reboot fabric) and I feel like I've drowned and don't want to un-drown.
I know it's not an easy movie for some and I understand it but I saw it completely unspoilered and just. Loved it.
I'm actually still not sure how I feel about it! There were parts I loved. There were things they did that I had hoped they wouldn't do, some of which worked and some of which didn't. Mostly I found it kind of...pretty but shallow? Compared to what I wanted. Which may have been that they insist on showing the damn thing in 3D which makes it harder to focus on; if I manage to see it in regular 2D that might make a difference.
So it wasn't quite what I wanted, but there were...parts. Definitely parts. That should be explored further in fanfic.
(I did love Uhura and Carol. Obviously I loved Kirk and Spock. I think I just wish there'd been places where things slowed down enough to breathe and see the character development?)
Thanks so much for your opinion! I've seen similar views in comments on lj, so you're not alone in that.
Oh dear, I feel a bit shallow now for liking it. But then, I didn't have ANY expectations whatsoever and mostly went to see Benedict and maybe it's a difference then. And I was just so happy to see all the lovely K/S after I felt they hated each other ro the gut in XI.
I'm sure there'll be lots of fanfic! KiSmet will be interesting this year :)
I would have given much to for character development, especially since Kirk still was portrayed a bit too boyish/goofy for me. But Abrams is probably not the right man for character development...
Still, I got overwhelmed with so many feels and I loved how the movie is made and I just kljhgtrzuiohugfzih.
Oh, I don't think it makes you shallow at all! Actually I think it's better from the POV of shipping TOS K/S, because then you can fill in all the blanks without the movie needing to. Because frankly, half of the things that happen in Into Darkness only make sense if they're madly in love with each other. ;)
EEEEEE I LOVED LOVED LOVED IT AND I AM SO THRILLED THAT YOU ARE JOINING REBOOT FANDOM TOO!!! <3333 Going to go see it again tomorrow and I can hardly wait!!
I finally saw it yesterday and really enjoyed it! I was full of cold medication at the time and drop dead exhausted and I didn't take it all in. I'm looking forward to seeing it again when my brain is functional again.
I'm so very glad that you could enjoy it! And that you could finally watch it :)
Seen it four times now and although there are of course things Abrams shouldn't have done that way, it's over all just so wonderful emotional that I can't help loving it. Big love movie if you ask me :D
