So I really want to do this, but at the same time due to work, finances, and such it's really not as feasible.
Hey LYONS Alumni!
I wanted all of you to know about an amazing opportunity for you this summer. It is a week long service trip in Kansas call the Bergie Bus Tour. Organized and planned by Bethany College (where Bergie and Dinah went) it is a trip for High School youth and alumni. LYONS has reserved places for 5 youth to join me on what will prove to be a life-changing experience for sure.
The trip is June 9-16 this summer. I imagine we will fly to Kansas on June 8th and return the night of the 16th. The trip is funded through Thirvent and whole week will only cost you $40. (that includes food and housing, what a deal!) LYONS has offered to help subsidize the cost of our plane tickets, so the cost to you may only be around $100-$150, depending on how much place tickets end up being. Some of that cost may even be taken care of by your individual churches! We can talk more about funding later...don't let money be a hinderance for you to apply, we will work it out.
So you may be saying.... "Wow, that's a whole week out of my summer vacation!" but what you should be saying is "What a great opportunity for me to serve others, see where Bergie grew up, get to know others folks and hang out with Bergie's parents! (yes Doris and Lyle Bergstrom will be riding the bus with us!)
Check out the Bethany Website at
http://www.bethanylb.edu/contentm/gen/bethany_college_generated_pages/Bergie_Bus_Tour_p1563.html for more information. You can read about where we will be staying and where/who we will be serving.
MOST IMPORTANTLY! How do you sign up? All you need to do is reply to this email to let me know you are interested. After we have compiled a list I will send you a short application asking you a few simple questions and then we will pick our group. If I could take you all, I would, but we are unfortunately limited to only five.
Think and pray about this opportunity and let me know by January 31st if you are interested.
In Peace,
Kirsten Erickson
