I am restoring an armchair I found on the side of the road. Would anybody be interested in owning this?
My result will look something like the below, only with wool upholstery not nauga. I love it but it doesn't fit in my house.
http://www.etsy.com/listing/173825181/vintage-mid-century-modern-tufted-retro?ref=sr_gallery_39&ga_search_query=armchair&ga_order=most_relevant&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_page=5&ga_search_type=all The insert part attached to the frame will be in brushed wool twill off white with black heathering (hairs of black within the white) unless somebody would like the chair and speaks up, then I will dye the wool and do custom colors. I don't know what color the cushions will be yet. For those I will probably buy new outdoor lounge chair cushions and re-cover them.
I wish I had taken a picture of the "before". The vinyl had become brittle and was breaking off in little pieces everywhere. I stripped the vinyl and batting down off the insert to reveal a fiberboard back and burlap seat within a hardwood structure. I re-glued the junction on the insert part between seat and back, and reinforced it with L brackets. I lightly sanded and refinished the frame with walnut Danish Oil. So far so good. I will replace the original batting with several layers of cotton quilt batting that is going to take two weeks to get here.
Updates as they become relevant.
