Yep, so I went to an allergist on Monday just to get prescriptions for next years allergy season...  I'm not sure a CPA firm can offer as good of benefits as a hospital, so you know, just in case...

Anyway, I found I'm allergic to pretty much everything that grows in the Willamette Valley.  Every tree pollen, grass pollen, and several kinds of mold ( Read more... )

how do they test allergies anyways as in how do they figure out what youre allergic to?

They prick your back with these little prongs soaked in concentrated allergen. Then you wait for an agonizing 15 minutes while you produce welts for the ones you're allergic to. Then they measure it for size... size = degree of allergic-ness.

It was nuts. And it hurt way more than I thought it would. And looking in the mirror and seeing my back look like a battlefield was a little scary...

If you do end up doing it, I really liked the Buck Allergy Clinic on Willamette. I saw Virginia, but her husband is an allergist there, too.

I haven't been tested in ages, but I think I'm allergic to most of the same things. I haven't got any food allergies though.

I think I might be mildly allergic to chocolate though.

Nothing in Japan seems to bother me really. In the spring I get hay fever like most Japanese do, but generally everything else is fine.

I seemed to be very allergic to something in Europe... but I would still live there.

Eugene is far and away the worst place I have ever lived for allergies. I will never go back there in the spring.
