Character Number: First
Character: Ronove
Fandom: Umineko no Naku Koro ni
Personality:
Ronove's the butler everyone would love to have. He knows everything when it comes to being one. He's skilled at cooking enough to have witches form a line to eat his cookies and he knows all the kinds of tea that go along with each dish. Anything a normal butler can do Ronove surely can do better.
Let's not forget that Ronove is a demon, so most things that a normal human would be afraid of don't apply to Ronove. He comes from Hell itself, so scaring him is something that nobody has been able to achieve yet. Of course, he's just Furniture ▬a term is pretty common in Umineko to refer to the servants▬ that possesses enough power to be feared by many, and he will use that fear against people without a problem. As Furniture, he knows the boundaries he possesses very well and he doesn't feel the need to push them more. For him killing someone is not something to feel guilty for and he will not hesitate in doing it.
One of the most common aspects of Ronove's personality is the fact that he's an arrogant bastard. He will say what he thinks about anyone in calm way without holding it back and that even includes his own Master. Ronove finds pleasure and amusement in doing it and also enjoys telling people what they don't want to hear. It's always followed by a small "pukukuku" and sometimes involving invading that person's so called personal space.
But despite this side of him Ronove is one of the most loyal Furniture ever. Even after Erika married Battler, he still only followed Battler's and Beatrice's orders, refusing to let someone like Erika order him. This also means that Ronove is a polite, refined and gentlemanly person who will not act rude against someone. Of course this doesn't mean that he is going to stop being an arrogant bastard.
History:
One of the Great Demons of the 72 pillars, Ronove's past is not clear at the beginning of the story. He's first introduced in the third game, where he starts serving Beatrice again after a long time. Ronove introduces himself and spends most of his time next to Beatrice, observing the game and serving cookies to her and Battler.
When Lucifer and Kanon are fighting each other, he appears behind Beatrice calmly as ever, to put an end to the verbal fight. Beatrice as calm as ever to put an end to the verbal fight. He speaks to Genji with a friendly smile and let him handle the rest. Later when Beatrice goes to fight Virgilia, he stands behind them along with the Stakes, watching the fight.
Some time later, after Virgilia encourages Battler to not give up on solving Beatrice's closed room, Ronove appears from behind in a good mood and offering tea. He speaks with Battler and uses the Red Truth to state that Beatrice was once human and leaves him behind.
Later when the Witch inside Eva solves the epitaph and becomes the new "Beatrice" ▬ Eva-Beatrice ▬ (as was decided for the one who would solve the epitaph) he and the other furniture belong to her now. This means he has to obey her during the rest of the third game. However, he's still loyal to Beatrice in the Meta World where she still fights Battler.
However, when Beatrice laughs at Eva-Beatrice's way of killing the people on the gameboard Battler calls her a monster and refuses to acknowledge her as his opponent anymore. He slaps her and leaves the meta world for a while. Some time later Beatrice asks Ronove how is Battler doing, to which he answers he has been crying since he left because of her. Of course this was a lie, but Beatrice belives him until she sees Battler chasing Beelzebub who just stole his food. Ronove laughs at Beatrice's pout and the game continues.
But Battler seems to be very hostile towards Beatrice and as a consequence she decides to leave so now Ronove is in her position to continue the game. Sadly for Battler Ronove's not allowed to respond with the Red Truth to his theories and so the game cannot continue. Ronove himself even asks Battler to accept Beatrice as his opponent again. In the end Battler agrees with it and accepts her again.
Continuing with the third game he stands behind Eva-Beatrice to be of assistance if she needs him. She tends to use the Seven Sisters of Purgatory and the Siesta Sisters more than him for the sacrifices. However, he hides some things from Eva-Beatrice that his former owner was doing because he is still loyal to Beatrice.
Near the end Battler is up against Eva-Beatrice, who almost cornered him with her red truths, but Beatrice saves him. Both of them awake in "the Golden Land" but then Battler realizes all this was a trap set by Virgilia and Beatrice to make him acknowledge Beatrice as a witch. However, they are interrupted by Ange and the third game ends.
Reaching the fourth game, Ronove is in charge of serving the tea in the Meta World again. But on the gameboard he's summoned by Kinzo along with Gaap, Virgilia and Siesta 00. The Siesta is in charge of carrying out the first twilight of the epitaph during the meeting as Gaap is in charge of putting the survivors into a cell.
Since Kinzo is crazy, he decides to carry out a trial to choose his successor from any of his grandchildren. Gaap has to fight against George and Ronove against Jessica while Battler and Maria waited for their turn in the trial. In his fight Ronove created a shield as Jessica went all berserker in punching it, even though he told her that it was useless. Sadly he was right and at some time during the fight Gaap creates a teleporting pithole that makes George and Jessica teleport into each other and kill each other. Ronove keeps his word and lets Jessica use the telephone as her last wish before she dies.
The end of the fourth game comes when Beatrice and Battler have their final battle of truths, in which she leaves him with the final riddle. Now we've reached the fifth game. Since Beatrice is unable to perform the duty of the Game Master, Lambdadelta takes her place and creates the fifth tale.
When the game begins neither Battler nor Beatrice want to join it. Ronove spies on it a bit and tells them that Lambdadelta's and Bernkastel's game lacks love. Battler gets pissed off and decides to join and find the answers to Beatrice's riddles in it and tells Virgilia to take care of Beatrice while she stays behind.
During the fifth game the piece Beatrice (on the gameboard) is in charge of helping Natsuhi along with Gaap and Ronove to hide 'Kinzo' from the relatives since he died before the game started. During the game Ronove's help is important in hiding the truth about Kinzo from Bernkastel's piece: Furudo Erika.
However, Erika reaches a possible checkmate for the fifth game before the end and begins the trial. She succesfully proves a theory of Natsuhi being the culpirt in the meta world, where all the other characters are obligated to watch, and manages to deny the illusion of the Witch Beatrice. Battler attempts to argue back but it's impossible, leading to the ascension of Erika as the Witch of Truth. Beatrice's furniture is forced to leave to escape the Siesta Sister Troops because they plan to excute and deny all of them.
But Battler manages to reach the truth about Beatrice's gameboard and returns, now with the power of a Game Master. Ronove appears and challenges Erika, with Battler's permission, to protect Battler with his shield. They manage to overcome her theory by exposing another possibility and having Lambdadelta agree with it. Because of this Battler becomes the new Lord and Game Master to prove his theory in the sixth game.
And we finally reach the sixth game.
For this game Ronove keeps helping the new born Beatrice, who is without her memories, with anything she needs. The same goes for Battler since he's his new master now. Ronove is aware that Beatrice took Zepar's and Furfur's trial to help Battler and find her purpose in her life.
During this game Erika manages to trick Battler into creating a logic error and she and her master Bernkastel plan for Erika to marry Battler so they can mess with the gameboard for all the eternity. Ronove, Gaap and Virgilia are outside the celebration before it occurs, trying to help Beatrice and Battler with solving the logic error. Gaap challenges Dlanor, who spots them outside plotting this, before the wedding starts. However, they cannot finish their argument because the marriage is starting.
Ronove and the others now pray for Beatrice to come. Erika marries Battler, but just before everything is over Beatrice makes her entrance, ready to challenge Erika. She borrows Ronove's glove and dashes to where Erika is. Virgilia takes care of most of the Siesta Sisters who are guarding her, so do Gaap and Ronove, taking care of the remaining ones.
All of them are witnesses of how Battler's logic error is solved and how he's back, ready for that duel. Beatrice almost finishes Erika with her red truths but Erika doesn't want to give up yet despite her wounds. Battler joins Beatrice and both of them finish Erika off together. After that, it's time for Battler and Beatrice's wedding celebration in the Golden Land.
Abilities: Ronove is a demon. Therefore he possesses some magical abilities. He can create shields powerful enough to resist almost every strike. He also uses magic to perform his butler duties, for example making tea and tea cups appear out of nowhere, making him one of the most skilled and wonderful Furniture ever.
Ronove also seems to be able to use the Red Truth. However, he won't be able to use it unless it has also been stated by Beatrice or Battler, since he's not a witch.
Since he's Beatrice's Head Furniture he can also teleport himself in her trademark cloud of golden butterflies to wherever he's called to.

The room was filled with golden butterflies as the figure of a man appeared a few seconds afterwards. Soon Ronove's figure was visible for all of the people in that room as he politely bowed for them in greeting.
"My name is Ronove, Lord Battler's Head Furniture," Ronove said to everyone present in that room with an amused smile. "Please, wait for him as he takes his time to meet you all. He must be very busy trying to understand Milady's actions for this event. Pukukuku." Followed by a small chuckle, the demon butler added to the last comment.
"Now, tea time will begin soon. I would like to request you all to wait until that time comes before eating anything. Unless, of course, you would like to be removed from this tea party permanently for being an ungrateful guest. And I am sure we do not want such a thing, correct?" The demon smiled politely to everyone again when he said that.
There was a reason why he was feared by so many, and the people in that room soon understood that.
Sample journal entry: [Video]
[Ronove managed to turn on the video option, and since it's recording he smiles politely to camera before speaking]
I suppose that for someone like Madame Beatrice this sounds just like the type of thing she would do for her honeymoon. Now, to consider that Lord Battler agreed to such a thing. . . Pukukuku, looks like he is slowly becoming like her.
[There's a small chuckle at that.]
I shall play my part as expected then. [There's a small bow. He's a butler after all.] My name is Ronove, Madame Beatrice's and Lord Battler's Head Furniture. A pleasure to be your acquaintance in this gameboard.
[With a polite smile he ends the feed and after everything is said.]
