What is Your Typical Day?

A typical day? How mundane. I am a Seer, yet you ask for my typical day? Very well, if that's what the Fates have decreed ( Read more... )

You do this every day? That sounds awfully complicated, I mean... how do you remember all of it? And what if the meals come at the wrong time one day?

It is habit of many years, my dear Professor Lockhart. I do what I must to keep the Inner Self healthy and functioning. I do not think I could live without my Gifts, so it is vital to keep them in order. Trixie is particularly good about being punctual, it is one of the things I prize most about her.

Oh, please... Call me Gil. I'm not a Professor anymore.

And can you really see the future?

Thank you, Gil, dear. And you may call me Sibyll.

Yes, I can See the Future. It comes in flashes, in Signs and Portents. It can be such a terrible burden sometimes.

A seer! I wonder what future you might predict for myself, or for my realm of Gormenghast? Do you do readings of such things, Lady Professor?

That I do, my dearie, when the Vision strikes me. Would you like a Reading? Or perhaps I can interest you in an even more accurate and detailed form of Divination? Sheep entrails provide absolutely the best answers!

Madam, I would be very interested to hear the words of your gift come from whatever form hones them to their finest clarity. Therefore, I shall let you choose the manner you like best.

(I feel a bit sorry for the sheep, but I suppose it would be hypocritical for me to say nay when we had a mutton stew at luncheon the other day.)

The auguries are quite precise. I believe they appreciate being consulted by someone who understands the power of Ritual, such as yourself. There is Unhappiness in your future, but on a personal level. Your kingdom will flourish. At least until, well. That bit isn't quite clear. But I'm sure it can't be that bad. Certainly not fatal.

You do readings?

Why yes, dear, I do!

The Sight tells me you're a very conflicted young man. In need of guidance. Perhaps I can be of service?

Perhaps.

So what does my future tell you?

Oh dear. Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

Swords everywhere! Swords are the suit of Air, the intellect. They also mean Pain and Tragedy. The 6 reversed indicates that Problems arise, Problems which you cannot escape. The 8 is the card of bondage, of restriction. And in the last position, the 9 of Swords Predicts horrible Suffering.

Poor dear. I do wish you luck in surviving. It seems to me that you'll need it.
