For short choppy styles, bed head wax is brilliant. I've got fine hair as well and when I want to defy the possible, I use a glue called *cough* 'Lube' from Paul Mitchell. Either should be avaible from a decent salon.

To spike it up you just need a comb and lots of hairspray while hanging your head upside down.

I know how to spike it up :-) used to do that 15 years ago!! Want to achieve a look with out back combing!! besides, not matter how hard and many times i used to back comb it, and no matter how much spray I used, within the hour it was dead flat again!! I want it spiky but not sticky up spikey, if yoa know what I mean!! My hair is probably too long for that really, but I will have to have a play with it!!

I use shock waves mousse wax, which is cool, much better than ordinary mousse and not as heavy as wax, plus (and it cannot be stressed enough) HAIRSPRAY! Lots and lots of hairspray! I'm a big fan of the pump action spray rather than aerosol, it just seems to work better.

Cool!! Does it keep the style without being sticky all the time?? Does it dry?? Not really keen on one that stays sticky!!

Its cool my son has to/wants to use gel....I get to try it out too!!

btw....really looking forward to sunday...you wanna come round for a coffee saturday and make plans??!!

It doesn't stay sticky at all, it's not like ordinary mousse but I use it coz it separates the strands of hair making it look fuller, then it's really the hairspray which keeps it in place. Well you know what my hair looks like when I flick it out.

Coffee on Saturday sounds cool to me. We need to come up with a plan for parking I think, coz parking at Earls Court costs a fortune! See you usual time?

Personally I have found that all gel's/wax's/moose's are useless on my hair, most seem to be too heavy. I use something called Hard Doh, which I buy from LaRaze (Hairdressers) in Albert rd. Its like a sticky goop. Then I also use hairspray on top of that. Again from LaRaze its a really fine firm hold one. This normally does the trick, even while playing a gig :) Although my hair it quite short.
