HISTORY
Jules is taken from the middle of volume four of the series, a bit before the series goes into a million unrelated flashbacks.
I will also disclaim that this is a bit vague; it was based on raws that I cannot read and I don't want to claim anything too crazy.
Although he was born to French nobility in the late 19th century, Jules had little chance to appreciate the luxury that came with this position. When he was still young, his father passed away, taking the de Ferrier family fortune with him. Soon after, his mother sent him to live with the family of a man Jules later found was her former lover. This man's son, Arion Rosemariné, quickly turned Jules into both his punching bag after Jules became the only person to stand up against his abuse of his playmates.
As the two grew up together, Rosemariné became more mellow and grew to think of Jules as a dear friend, while Jules was unable to let go of his grudge and continued to try to get revenge on Rosemariné. He became a very angry and violent child, going as far as a brief stint as a gang leader, until Rosemariné was raped by his cousin (an act which may have been somehow assisted by Jules, although that bit hasn't been translated so I can't say for sure) and Jules realized that he had gone far enough, perhaps too far.
Eventually, he became a devoted assistant to Rosemariné, and used his intelligence and connections to Rosemariné's family to become a top student at the exclusive Lacombrade Academy as well as the student supervisor there. This title seems to be fairly meaningless, however; his duties mostly consist of keeping Rosemariné sane and occasionally stopping the promiscuous and abused lead of the series, Gilbert, from getting bullied and/or committing suicide.
SOUL
Soul Description: kind, intelligent, controlling, protective, observant, quiet
Soul Appearance: A dusty blue colored soul with a happy but somewhat distant expression. Appears to have a long ponytail.
WEAPON FORM
In the spirit of good old-fashioned 19th century discipline, Jules' weapon form is similar to the birch switches of those days. He can be used as any other switch, with no special offensive powers. He is also able to:
- Create a barrier around his mister to defend them from most attacks. It can last anywhere from a second to five minutes, depending on resonance. With a lot of resonance and effort from the meister, it may be able to defend multiple people.
- Reflect projectile attacks back toward the attacker (via the same barrier). Accuracy is initially low, but with higher resonation the meister will be able to direct the reflection's direction more precisely.
- Create a barrier around himself; this will reflect attacks in the same way. The switch's small size will make it easy for him to miss and the attack to hit his meister, but in this way reflected attacks can be more easily controlled (just like how it's easier to hit a baseball with a bat than with your arm). Finally, if the barrier is used around him, it will make his attack power somewhat stronger.
- Sense the location of a person within a mile. Once again, the usefulness depends on resonation: lower resonation will give him only general knowledge, while higher resonation will allow him to pinpoint with higher accuracy. He's only be able to sense one person in the beginning but when he becomes a two-star weapon, he'll be able to sense three at a time, and as a death scythe, he'll be able to sense five.
