SARAH PARETSKY - she's AMAZING. I'm addicted.
Osamu Tezuka's Buddha series. phenomenal. I'm sure you'd love them.
A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius - Dave Eggers
The Unbearable Lightness of Being - Milan Kundera
Sailor Song - Ken Kesey
Kurt Vonnegut's always a good fallback.
Marion Zimmer Bradley for a quick, enchanting, sensual, woman-power trip.
Jeanette Winterson for ecclectic, enthralling, beautifully crafted feminist lit.
John LeCarre for completely phenomenal metaphors and descriptions, not to mention good, healthy, twisted-as-all-hell espionage.
Let me know if ya want me to mail you anything =D

*big huggles!*
hang in there. Home after freshman year sucks a big one. But you'll get through it. We all do, one way or another. . . remind me to tell you that story sometime =)
