INPUT PLEASE: How much would you pay?

If you were in need of computer assistance, if say, you're PC wouldn't boot up or was acting odd, how much would you expect to pay a tech to come to your house to fix it? Like, let's say you were to call a computer store listed in the yellow pages, how much would you assume that they would charge per hour? What would you consider to be an ( Read more... )

Ummm, twenty to fifty? But, then again, I don't know how much training goes into that, and if that's an offensive amount to them...Hmmm. *thinks* I'm not sure.

You're welcome for my being so helpful. (-; Sorry, but I'm not sure. Yet, I am still leaving this comment. Hmm.

This is where having a few computer geeks around helps.
Your looking at getting charged an avrage of $65-$85 an hour, plus parts (if required) and prolly a trip charge.

So, the current market (Here in MI anyway) I'd say anything over 85 is too much.

Depending on where you live, try the mom-n-pop pc shops first, and if you guys have anything like 'phone a geek' or something, their fairly cheap.

(yeah, 65 bucks an hour... fukin crazy)

Well, that's good news. See, I don't need my computer repaired anyhow. I'm a computer guy myself and I'm growing sick of the corporate world. So, I'd like to start my own home based business to repair PCs, do home networking, training, etc. I'd be quite happy billing out at 65/hour. :)

Hahaha. Yeah, I've actually been working in the IT industry for about six years now, and I'm considering starting my own business to do computer repair, home networking, training, etc. So, I just wanted to get a feel as to how much I could get away with charging. I'm guessing around 50-55/hour.

I'd think that your rates of $50-55 per hour would be reasonable within a specified radius. If you go outside of that radius, then you would probably want to charge a trip fee.

Thank you :)

In case I didn't explain already, I'm looking to start my own computer repair/networking/training company, though on the side, since I already work full time. If it works out well, then I might consider quitting my full time job in order to focus on the business.

I actually need to get busy getting some business cards and other forms of advertising going. I'm going to start out doing this part time

I think the business idea is a GREAT one. How's it going?

BTW, this is your LJ friend, Robin. I've just switched journals because I desperately needed a change. (-:
