Agreed - although, I heard about the 'cel phone while driving' ban yesterday too. I've been guilty of this on several occasions, but support this ban, as it doesn't extend to headsets and earpieces - they mostly want both of your hands on the wheel.
I'm against the ban for several reasons, the most notable being the enforcement issue. what, are they going to be setting up road blocks like they do for seat belts, insurance, and drunk drivers? I feel that having it as a law is just goofy, but I'm totally for not driving while on the phone. good concept, bad implementation, and they even admitted it on the radio.
jane everyone is reassured by the metal detectors, etc, etc.
jane psychopath knows how to flirt with the security guard at the "Artist's Entrance" so that she can get in without having to pass the wands/get her camera confiscated.
(And in some cases, there's no flirting required if you're working an "inside job" and can get a "photog's pass" because of it.)
thank you. situations like that tend to trigger a fight/flight response in me, and I have to seriously restrain myself from freaking out. it doesn't make me feel safer, it makes me feel like a criminal, much like when they tell me I can't bring my bag in a store(which is another rant all together). you know, I may have to do that one soon after all....
My friend Blake has started a petition a while back to start a committee of students who want to allow guns on campus. He, like you, doesn't like the idea that everyone knows that no one is armed. He tends to feel that if someone were to come on campus with a few guns and what-have-you to shoot everyone up, no one else will have guns around to blow that fucker away. He went through quite the rant. The whole point of this little ditty is that there are people in this world who are fighting stupidity. But a for me, when he asked me to sign his petition I said no.... but my reasoning is that no matter what I'm always in a situation where I can get shot, so it makes no difference to me. Love ya hon!
