Stop the 'kill the gays'-bill

Uganda is at it again! The nasty anti-gay bill that can mean prison for gays (and everyone who does not report them to the authorities) and even the death penalty was stopped several times so far but might actually pass this time.

Please sign the petition to stop it!

And spread the word to as many people as possible!

I signed the petition but it feels so useless. Like any country is going to base its laws on an online petition, especially one signed by "foreigners". There must be more that can be done, perhaps by those (countries? organizations?) who can actually make them feel some pain.

Sigh. The more progressive the world seems to get overall, the harder the bad guys double down, it seems.

I know how you feel, but at least it is a little something and the pressure from petitions and people pestering their government with emails and calls seems to have worked. I guess if it gets enough attention that puts pressure on politicians and that puts pressure on Unganda because they don't want to piss off the countries that pay foreign aid to them.

It's really depressing, though. Especially because those laws are the brain fart child of fanatical "christians" in Uganda and the USA. I mean how low do you have to sink to live your fantasy of locking up and even killing gays in a country with a huge poverty, illiteracy and HIV problem because you can't do it at home? Yuck.
