Summary:Yunho and Onew have a conversation about love, failing at life, and being ‘married’ to two of the evilest people in what has to be all of Korean history.
It never fails to leave him a little bit in awe when Yunho is around. He is the leader of one of the most successful Korean boy bands ever. He is smart and cool, and down to earth, and he talks to Onew like Onew doesn’t completely fail at being the leader of SHINee. The two of them are sitting backstage, away from the rest of their band mates, and especially away from Jaejoong and Kibum. Apparently the title of ‘band umma’ has a different meaning altogether than what is implied.
Like how Jaejoong seems to take great pleasure in teaching Kibum, who was already so good at being a terror, how to make Onew’s life so much harder. It seems like every time they happen to be on the same program, or are in relatively the same area backstage, the two of them always end up trading stories, and secrets that should not be known.
“You better hope Kibum doesn’t get the hang of that.” Onew glances over to the two of them, where the very deviant looking Jaejoong is doing something with Kibum’s hand. “I know it seems difficult now, but you’re still young.” Yunho continues, sounding a little unsure of his own advice.
“Can I switch?”
“You don’t want Jaejoong. He’s twice as evil. And more likely to boss you around.” Onew knows this is the truth, because it happens even in the short time the two bands are together. And Kibum just continues employing every technique he learns. “Plus, I wouldn’t agree to that trade.”
“I know. I don’t think I would actually trade him.” Sometimes though, when Kibum was teasing, being particularly cruel, Onew didn’t know what he would and wouldn’t trade for him to just stop. “I can’t figure out why though. He’s... spiteful. You have no idea how creatively mean he is.”
“I do, actually.” Yunho clapped him on the back, a kindred spirit in the pain of having a sadistic band mate. “Jaejoong was only seventeen when the band was put together, and I knew him before that. It gets better as they get older.”
“So, what you’re saying is that I have to wait five years for Kibum to stop taking pictures of me in the shower?” Onew looked stricken, like he probably wanted to fast forward through all of that, to a time when Kibum and Jonghyun, and Taemin, and even Minho when he was bored, were more mature than bugging the hell out of their leader.
“No.” The relief that flooded across Onew’s face was clear, and Yunho felt a little bad about getting his hopes up. “Jaejoong still does that. What I’m saying is it gets better. You just have to... let it.”
“Yunho, get ready.” There was a good side, and a bad side to Jaejoong calling Yunho off. On one hand, it meant that Kibum would have that many less things to use against him. On the other, it meant that Kibum wasn’t being distracted by Jaejoong anymore, and was practically skipping in Onew’s direction. Yunho gave him one last sympathetic look, a whispered ‘Just give him the attention.’ before following Jaejoong out into the hallway.
“Whipped.” Kibum said, following his words with a cracking sound. He draped himself over Onew’s shoulders, and looked at the door. “A bit like you.” Onew really wanted to protest, but Kibum wasn’t done yet. “Don’t you want to see what hyung taught me just now?”
