GenderSwap and Femslash
I've been following the discussion regarding Genderswap and Femslash which is an interesting discussion and I had a thinky-thoughts post mostly finished but, this being the internet, there's always someone who posts what I'm thinking way more eloquently than I can. So, I'll just skip the thinky stuff and head straight to the PORN!
Which got me thinking - well, if I *were* to write Genderswap, which fandoms/characters would I write?
The Stargate's are always good start especially with the 'aliens made them do it' and other assorted cliches. I mean Boy!Vala has 'comedy gold' written all over it. It's just, I'm not that interested in the Gateverse these days.
Whereas Boy!Ashley of Sanctuary has some interesting possibilities, especially now that they've added Invisible Girl, oh she who wears denim mini-skirts to go trekking through the Himalayas. *facepalm*
I wondered about Boy!Kara on BSG but then I remembered there's already a male Starbuck.. and he's kind of a douchebag. But, the BSG-verse doesn't have the kind of gender politics that, for me, would make a Boy!Kara story interesting. I mean, at this point, Kara's *already* the most masculine character next to Adama even without a penis. On the other hand, I think I would be interested in Boy!Cylons, like what if there was a glitch on the Regeneration Ship that started creating male models and Six (or Three) regenerated into a male body.
Speaking of Starbuck, Bionic Woman could be kinda interesting. Whereas Boy!Jamie would be all angsty kvetching and handwringing, Boy!Sarah would freak for like all of ten seconds then be all 'woot! let's take this baby for a test drive'. Of course, Georgina from Gossip Girl is involved somehow.
The only genderswap for Sarah Connor I can think of would be Girl!John. Like an AU where Sarah gave birth to a daughter instead of a son. And even then, that's more of a Sarah-centric type story as opposed to Girl!John centric. Which, in the end, I guess doesn't change much.
Last but not least, there's Merlin and Boy!Morgana which, imo, would be totally awesome. Of the four main characters, I think Morgana is most 'aware' of the disparities in her society (both gender and class) but I also think she'd be the one most likely to take advantage should something change. Like, she'd wake up one morning all 'I have a penis! Knight me bitches!'. She'd lose her virginity to a barmaid. Find out what Arthur's knights *really* do when he's not around, and explains why they're always dying because they keep practicing... with the wrong swords! Find out Nimueh cast the spell because she wants to have a Le Fey baby and Morgana's the last of the line. And Guin's all confused because the hot girl she secretly crushed on is now the hot boy who totally wants to jump her bones. GAH! Can someone write this for me?
