Day one of work at Office Max was a complete success. The job is going to be ALOT of fun and from what my managers told me, I have an inate salesman personality. Thing is, they're sort of on to something. The campus is trying to build a community, and the more involved the students are, the more smoothly the community will run, and the more the students will care about what goes on.
I didn't live on campus, and I'm the exact opposite of you: I was in a ton of clubs and extracurriculars in high school, and didn't do a thing in college besides show up for class. Turns out they were right, about being involved. At the time, I didn't think anything of it, but looking back, I really did miss out on a big part of The Experience by doing the bare minimum,
That's not to say that you should jump in with both feet and sign up for everything available, but don't give up on the idea completely.
And yes, dorms do suck, but I'm told you adapt.
