I'm very excited. Michael and I are going to Berlin for a week on our own. We leave early next Wednesday morning and come home the following Wednesday in the afternoon. I went for a weekend a few years ago. I think maybe we did the obvious things - we went to Checkpoint Charlie and the holocaust museum and the Helmut Newton museum and the zoo. It was around the time Knut the orphaned polar bear was little so there were loads of people round his enclosure.

Currywurst is NOT ALL THAT in my opinion.

Ahhh....cool!! I love it there. I have friends living in Berlin now, too. What a cool city. Yes, the Jewish history museum is fantastic. Also check out the remaining bits of the Wall when you're there. I'll try to think of some more things for you...I'm having a mind-blank at the moment. I usually just hang out with my friends whenever I go there. oh, the Victory Column is neat aka Siegesaule. Kreuzberg and Neukoln are interesting, diverse areas of the city - def not "posh" though. There are so many cool little cafes and bars and galleries. There's a Polish place actually that is really cool. They have a mini cinema set up in there. One night Killian and I stumbled in there and watched the rest of Rosemary's Baby.

I'm extremely excited about it. I think it will be an amazing city. Michael has always wanted to go because he's an electronic music geek, but also a big fan of German art. We watched a brilliant 3 part BBC series a couple of months ago, just called "Berlin". You'd enjoy it.
The Polish place sounds good. I think the place where we're staying is in Kreuzberg...luckily we're not at all posh !
