Yesterday I had a choir party. it was the End-of-year, hang-out-and-eat gathering. Friday & early Sat I was going about my day making plans for the evening after work & only rediscovered the scheduled party after I opened my datebook to write in my bus routes for the day. That threw my planning out the window, because I really did want to attend the party.
I got home after work & had a few hrs until the party was going to start. I made a mental note to run to the store & get some fruit to cut up to bring with, & then settled down to get some things done that I'd been putting off. I settled too much, & w/ everything else going on in my head I apparently buried the mental note under other stuff.
I looked up, went "oh crap, I'm late" & ran out the door. Then I ran back in the door & changed out of my work clothes because the house I was going to has a cat. Then back out & I'm on the road a few blocks down when I realized I was facing in the wrong direction to get to the store. I did I u turn & went to the store. Party was at 6, & it's already nearly 6:30, so I wound up grabbing a caramel apple pie to bring with.
Then back out to the car, & this time I'm heading in the right direction to get where I'm going. I actually got there uneventfully & walked in the door at around 7pm. For a party that could run several hours, I wasn't that late... But the party volume was significantly less then I would have expected. I turned the corner into the kitchen & saw a handful of people standing around talking. (there were maybe 10 or 12 people total). There was also a counter of decimated food platters. Just as my brain is telling me that I forgot to carry a zero somewhere in the equation, several people saw me & launched into an impromptu chorus of "there she is" & "You made it."
Turns out that the party was at 4.
Oops.
On the upside, the people that were left really loved the pie, and I got to spend about half an hour cuddling an infant.
In other news: For moving day there will be Chili. Pizza isn't actually real food, & it seems that no one really likes it that much anyway. So, there'll be *real* food instead in the form of beef chili. (And if it doesn't get eaten, then that's ok too, because it's good stuff & I'll be quite happy to take the leftovers.^_^)
