Well we finally got there - The end of season 8. I loved this issue, its right up there with my favourites of the entire season. ( Read more... )

Excellent review. For as bad as Season 8 was at it's worst (and it was bad), I am looking forwards to Season 9. It feels like they learned lessons in the making of Season 8, and we'll get a more down-to-earth, cohesive story for season 9. It's terrible that so much of the badness is still canon, but I haven't given up on the comics because of Mecha Dawn or the Space Frak of doom. Season 9 will be better, and Spuffy is in prime place to take a prominent role.

Me too. I am heartened to hear that the entire writing team for season nine has recently had dinner together in order to discuss the direction of season nine. A unified approach can only be an improvement!

And lastly - I love the idea as posed by Angearia (see here, in the comments) that at the beginning of season eight Buffy had a raft of possible suitors - Angel, Xander, Riley, Spike and Satsu - but by season’s end we have but one standing.

Hee. Word.

And count me as one looking forward to S9 too. Never thought I'd be saying that...

There were times I had my doubts too... thank god for the return of Spike and a stellar final issue.
