You could call it inventor's intuition, but in her tiny little corner, Lash had noticed the man and his tiny pencils. Slowly, she had tried to inch nearer (which was admittedly hard, it wasn't easy to ignore so much hair on a person's head) quietly, trying to peer at what he was doing.

Isaac swiveled on his barstool to regard the girl with the hair like a Garuda with its head feathers fluffed.

"What, you've never seen a diagram of crisis energy before?" He asked, knowing the answer.

She looked at him for a few seconds like a deer caught in the headlights (so much for trying to be sneaky) before finally answering.

"Uuuh...does that even obey the first law of thermodynamics?"

"Not in the least. One of the reasons those poxy old fools at the academy didn't believe me." Lash probably recognized the FOOLS, I WILL SHOW THEM ALL look.

Lash was a master of that look. She grinned back.

"So how does it work then?" Hey, even if she wasn't a master conversationalist, all she had to do was talk to someone about science and she could go on for hours.

"At least where I come from, it was long ago theorized that all things exist in a state of crisis, of raw potentiae..." And oh there was explaining. It was all so complicated and sciencey that not even a writer who was handsome, smart and well liked by animals, with interesting hobbies and fresh breath could have possibly hoped to completely write out.

Lash might have stopped the talk once in a while to understand a few things straight, mention about her own experiments and the mad cloning that had gone out in the Black Hole Labs. Her first drink was quickly running low. But most of it was new to her, and yet Issac's talk somehow made sense, as unreal as it might have seen. Gain +2 Wisdom Unfortunately her writer was not handsome, and was more of a nerd, liked as a headrest by her cats and may have been french, so alas dear reader, there would be no fancy sciencey words in her writings tonight.

"So what'd you do before coming here?" Isaac realized he'd been going into his nutty proffesor rant mode again and tried quickly to make amends.

It's a good thing the subject they had been talking about had been interesting, or else Lash would have probably been bored much earlier. She had rather short attention spans when it came to none-science stuff. There was a giggle at the question.

"Spent most of my early years being evil. Commanding Officer in the Black Hole forces, and Orange Star for a short time. That's the good guys when the new commanders decided me and Hawke weren't useful to them anymore." She scratched the back of her head idly, but managed to puff up in pride. "I was responsible for most of the R & R in Black Hole since I was a kid. Neotanks, Black Bombs, Piperunners...they used to call me their Wunderkind."

"So you worked for the militia? Didjou retire then?" Isaac did his level best to keep prejudice from showing, but there was no way to keep it entirely secret. He'd run from the militia, been singed by their weapons, seen friends thrown into the cells and tortured. But then being called a 'wunderkind' was familiar. He remember getting praise for his inventions since he was small, offers from the militia to snatch him up as a teenager. It was a fortunate thing Crisis Energy had proved much more tempting. "I'm a freelancer meself. I'm the guy you hire when you've got questions noone else's thought of before."

She laughed. "I guess you could say I retired because my homeworld doesn't exist anymore. Granted it probably would have caused problems, having an ex-Black Hole in Orange Star's troops. It saved me a bit of a headache. But..." She paused. "But it was still kinda home, you'know? I wonder if anyone else I know is in those pods down there." But it wasn't time to think of that. "Anyway, freelancer? That sounds like a good idea actually. You have interesting stories?"

"Quite a few. My last project was giving a Garuda...That's a kind of a, well they're bird-men...back the ability to fly. I was looking for any kind of animal that could fly, when someone sold me some unremarkable looking grubs that turned out to develop into Slake Moths and Jabber are those bad news..." He polished his ale off and wiped off the froth with one of the less important diagrams. "You should try it if you ever get back there." Veteran to relative youngling he said that, although he knew better than to say that out loud.
