Maaan the sensoriums were always taken recently. Lash had wanted to come in for a quick battle practice. Ahh well.

Decor was pretty interesting, however. She moved along the cavern, not quite in Beastboy's or the statue's view yet. Granted it wasn't exactly proper etiquette and it could be dangerous but...hell it was Lash and the situation clearly lent itself to it.

"HELLO!" she screamed. The voice carried and echoed a bit, "Hello...llo..." and she laughed. "Tee hee! Great ambiance and audio!"

"GAH!" Beastboy shrieked like a little girl and dove behind the statue, "Don't those doors have locks or something? Everyone keeps sneaking up on me!" He yelled back and then after a beat, "Hey you're right the echo is awesome."

Oh yeah, it was Beastboy. She gave him a wave after his less-that-heroic display trying not to laugh. She failed. "Eh, it's not like doors could stop me. I'd just blow them up."

Beastboy slid out from behind the statue and trotted over to greet her, "Can you still do that? I thought Stacy was totally against blowing things up and stuff."

"Well..." she paused, trying to think of a good comeback. "...probably not." You got her there, Beastboy. She looked around the place. "So...you're the one who set up the sensoriums today?"

"Oh um...well this one anyway." He grinned sheepishly trying to position himself so he was standing directly in her line of sight and she wouldn't be able to see the statue. "You know I thought maybe I'd err...go spelunking?"

Lame excuse Beastboy. Lame Excuse.

"Spelunking? I never did that before. Where's your climbing gear?" Why was he in her line of sight? It wasn't so bad talking to a person but she had a feeling judging from his voice that he was hiding something. So she asked in the most delicate way.

"Are you hiding something?"

"I-I don't need gear look at me." He changed into a goat and ran circles around her before turning into a bat and flapping about distractingly before crash landing at her accusation.

Shifting back he grumbled into the gravel, "Would you believe me if I said no?"

She tilted her head to look at the mangled bat-turned-back-into-his-green-humanoid-form on the damp stone cavern floor. "Not really, no."

Her eyes shifted from him to the statue. So this is what he had been hiding? A statue of a girl? In a strange way, she reminded Lash of a much younger Nell. Whoever had carved it was really good at their job, the thing looked so lifelike she almost expected her to start standing and walking at any minute.

"Terra..." she mouthed, reading the plaque bellow. A Teen Titan. "...she was a team member?"

Beastboy sighed and pushed himself up again shaking dust from is hair, "Yeah...things didn't turn out so well though." He rubbed at his arm without much thought looking up at her, "Case and point...if this were the real cave back home? That's no statue. That's her."

That...didn't make much sense to her.

"So wait...she turns into a rock statue?" That was a kinda neat power. Kinda. But why the plaque then? It didn't hit her what he meant until Beastboy continued.

"Not exactly....see Terra was..." He stopped looking up at her, the statue had faded replaced by what she looked like in life, smiling and happy.

He couldn't...even if it was the truth it was a truth she'd wanted to stay buried. He'd have to offer her the abridged version.

"Terra gave her life to save the city. A madman was threatening to destroy it all..." In the darkness a figure approached, imposing and frightening, armored with an aura of pure evil. "She took him down once and for all...but in the end it put her like this." He hung his head with a look of guilt.

Oh. It was oddly one of the rare times in her life where Lash wasn't sure what to say. Maybe last year in her own homeworld she might have made a comment or two about statues and heroes being stupid in very poor taste, but her personality had changed during the last war and her stay here. She bit down on her tongue until he was done speaking.

Imposing figures, she knew. Worked with them, even. In fact...someone close to her had had a similar fate. Not turned to a statue, but madmen threatening to destroy something once and for all seemed to be almost universal.

"I see," she finally whispered and tried to offer some sort of kind words. "She looked pretty." Was that acceptable? She had no idea. Did compliments to a person work in that situation? Argh! Being nice was so hard sometimes when no one told you what to do. "I know all too well about people sacrificing themselves. At least...she save the city, right?" Well, before the Ohm probably did, man those alien things made anything good that happened in any world sound so pointless and

"Heh yeah." Beastboy smiled weakly and then shook his head, "A-actually that's not how her story ends...I mean that's how "Terra's" story ends but...well you know how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly?"

The statue began to crack, light peeking out through the cracks as the stone crumbled away. A blinding flash washed away the cave and when the room came into focus again it was a schoolyard.

There she was, pretty as could be walking along with two other girls all wearing schoolgirl uniforms.

"No one's seen her but me and her brother who came looking for her...no one can explain how it happened. But she's alive. She doesn't remember anything...or maybe she doesn't want to. Point is she's happy now...err...was...would be. Stupid bugs." He sighed.

In his moment of not paying attention he inadvertently replayed a scene from his memories where he was barred from seeing and speaking to Terra by her two friends. Watching him struggle to get past two powerless schoolgirls and fail was actually kind of amusing.

"Of course I know about butterflies..." she whispered, watching as the school appeared. She'd never been in one herself, being a child soldier, and her eyes darted from the cemented games of hopscotch and basketball iron posts to the outfits everyone was wearing. So much coordination! It almost reminded her how mostly everyone here wore the suit Stacy had given them, or the Rouge's outfit. Just like soldiers, but with a lot less fighting. Maybe she would have enjoyed that too after the wars...

Beast Boy was right. If that girl wasn't the same one, it was either a twin sister or her clone. And clones had the memories of their predecessors. In her world they did anyway. "Maybe something wanted to thank her for what she did. A second chance to begin anew." She could get behind that. Maybe part of her almost felt jealous about something like that not happening to her.

She did giggle it a bit when the schoolgirls managed to keep him at bay. The scene was rather comical. "Tee hee, they look stronger than they seem!"

Beastboy rolled his eyes as eventually memory him got past the girls and was given the OK to run off with "Terra" and talk to her.

"It was a total pain in the butt at the time but at least I know she's got friends who care about her." He laughed.
