Long Shots [OPEN]

Jan 23, 2011 19:38

There were some unusual sounds in the Hangar today. Namely, the sounds of a large particle rifle discharging several rounds, followed by the sound of whatever was on the wrong end of those shots quite violently becoming shards of scrap metal. Occasionally, there were also some loud thump, thump, thumps, as a pair of mobile suits would periodically ( Read more... )

Setsuna was still around, things having had been settled by this point. He was at the foot of his Gundam, going over some of the diagnostics on a datapad of his. He looked over at the pink haired girl, initially thinking it was Feldt, but immediately realized that it was definitely someone different.

He didn't say anything to her, only mildly quirking one eyebrow before returning to his attention to the pad.

Sakura thought it over, then opted to approach Setsuna in lieu of him not having said anything about going away. All of this was new in ways she wasn't entirely happy about, but it did her no good to keep from asking questions when she had the opportunity.

"For all of that, what's the end result telling you?"

Setsuna glanced at her, regarding her briefly before answering.

"The suit is in functional, but not optimal condition."

"Aah." Yes, that made no lasting impact on Sakura. Now she knew there was an optimal condition these machines hadn't achieved... which, admittedly, was more than she knew before asking. "Will it be difficult bringing them up to optimal condition?"

Setsuna had other ways of making a lasting impact on people.

"It won't take long," he responded, sort of answering her question, but not really answering it at the same time.

"Relative to what understanding of 'long?'"

He didn't bother answering that out loud, mostly because he couldn't give an actual timeframe. Instead, he merely glanced at her, then went back to what he was doing without a word.

Sakura waited a moment longer, then sighed internally. Maybe he knew, and telling her wasn't worth it, or maybe he didn't. Either way, it ultimately only mattered as much as he, or any of those with him, made it matter. "Good luck," she offered, tilting her head back to really look up at this metal creation used to fight wars in other universes and histories.

It sent a shiver down her spine. If things like this had existed... Yet they hadn't, and the point was moot. As far as her home was concerned.

"Roger that." It was the closest thing to 'thank you' he knew how to say.

He did note her reaction to his suit and glanced up at it. He knew his machine wasn't harmless by any stretch of the imagination, but, "Its nothing to be afraid of."

For the moment, at least.

She glanced back to Setsuna, then up at the gundam again. "It's not the machine that's frightening. It's another tool. Different than what I'm used to, but still, a tool."

Whatever was frightening extended past the reality of the object, and into the meaning behind why such things existed in the first place.

Setsuna looked at her curiously, but patiently, like he was waiting for her to explain further. Was it possible that she was one of the few people on the ship who actually could understand them?
