It’s been a long morning of work on Serenity already. With her time split between Engineering and the Tavern, there hasn’t been much time recently for Kaylee to actually work on her own ship, and the poor old girl is looking (and probably feeling, by the sound of her creaks and groans) a bit neglected as of late. Kang understood perfectly well-- ( Read more... )

Ahh the cargo bay. After spending who knew how much time doing her own cleaning up on her giant robot, Lash went to the second part of her activity that day. Snooping around at the other giant spaceships and robots there. Thankfully most (most!) of the time she did it when she saw the pilots and other people around their own ship and today just happened to pass by the Serenity which appeared to have its door open. Of course this was a true cause for exploration!

Not wanting to scare whoever was inside, she didn't bother to keep quiet, yelling out. "Hey!"

Finally spying Kaylee in the cargo bay, she gave the other woman a wave and then somewhat childishly stepped on the rails to her footsteps echo with a giggle.

"She's not too bad for a ship," which was probably a good form of praise if it came from Lash. "Pretty big too!" Okay seriously her heart was beating from all the technology and it as so darn gosh cool but like she'd tell her THAT.

By now, Kaylee was nearing Done. Most everything had been cataloged, and what wasn't so good for keeping had been neatly stacked near the door. The mechanic would be taking a trip down to take care of that later.

For the moment a distraction was nice. It was impossible to mistake Lash's voice coming up the ramp, and Kaylee couldn't help but laugh.

"Hey yourself," she replied, turning away from the boxes she had just rearranged and gave Lash a big smile. She nodded around the cargo bay. "You like her? Ain't half as roomy as some, but she's enough for me 'n mine."

"You and mine?" You'd think the wunderkind would understand those expressions but NOPE Black Hole wasn't too big on them. She coughed and continued, her surprised expression betraying her. "Ain't half as roomy? You mean you think this ship is small? I mean. Stacy is pretty huge but she's...well. Stacy."

Seriously if Lash had a ship like this she would call it grand and huge and not roomy. She'd also have installed a thousand lasers on it.

"Me 'n my crew, yeah." It wasn't the first time Kaylee'd had to translate one of her phrases for a member of Stacy's crew, and she was fairly sure it wouldn't be the last. Differences in speech patterns was all. "She's about standard issue for personal ships. Compared to what the Alliance back home travels around in, though, she's like a bug."

And Serenity, however small and bug-like, was still a thousand times better that any Alliance cruiser. Take that, bunch of purple bellies.
