Beastboy sighed and his sigh echoed much louder then he'd have liked in the pool area of the Outsider's headquarters ( Read more... )

Sometime after the others? things_go_boom March 22 2011, 21:26:41 UTC
"Figured I'd find you here."

Actually Lash's first guess had been the sensoriums, and she'd lost time there searching. It was only after realizing that they had a big headquarter that, perhaps, after news of Katara's repodding, some of the members would go to the headquarters. Hindsight 20/20 right? Right. Wunderkinds never made mistakes.

She sat down close to him near the pool, letting her feet splash in the water idly. Lash never really had to comfort others about loss before, just make fun of it, so she really felt out of her element.

"...." The silence was rather annoying, admittedly. "...uh you..." pause. "wanna..." pause. "...talk about it?" If you closed your eyes, you could almost imagine being an attempt at reaching out.

Yep yep! Yaaaay Lash being adorkably awkward. changelingdude March 22 2011, 23:48:31 UTC
"Eh." Beastboy shrugged and then pointed dramatically "BUT YOU!" He pointed at her fingertip almost touching her nose, "You're not allowed to get put back in the pods alright? I totally need your crazy mad Lashness around here."

His attempt at jokes and humor. Laughter was the best medicine right?

Excellent. And pffft first she'll be adorable. Then she'll make something explode. things_go_boom March 23 2011, 00:10:28 UTC
Hey should could do laughter and jokes just fine. In fact they were probably the easier thing for her.

"They'll have to drag me kicking and screaming there," she countered, grinning. "I'm not going to stay asleep while the universe gets saved without my genius." What's a little bragging during times of distress too? Well, it was second nature to her. "Besides. I'm not mad. Just really, really, really smart."

"Uh huh, and I'm sure all that hair is just to hide your giant brain." He teased fluffing up his own hair in a surprisingly accurate imitation of Lash's afro.

The rather accurate portrayal wasn't lost on her, and Lash burst out laughing.

"Tee hee hee! Not too bad!"

But in a surprisingly fast move of agility, she pushed her face really close to his, as her grin widen and almost became diabolical. "No my brain isn't that big although I can't imagine what it would be like if it was. But..." she poked him on the stomach. "I think you're forgetting something...I own you, remember? We got married. And you know the whole saying. Men before women and children. If I went, you'd have to go first."

Not that Lash could be really considered a women. She definitely wasn't a book definition of delicate. And this was probably also a lie. But Lash stand there and not make a terrible joke? As if.

Beastboy's face went an interesting shade of red as Lash asserted herself and he stumbled over his counter, "W-well if that's the case I guess I've got no choice." He then puffed out his chest and grinned like a cheesy hero, "But you should know you're the first and ONLY person to ever acknowledge my manly maness and that I am in fact a man!" He struck a few "Manly" poses just adding emphasis to his scrawny stringy muscles.

"Would you rather I call you a boy instead?" she snickered, pointing to said lack of muscles. "You're no Flak or Max, that's for sure." She got up and studied him, still posing as she continued to spew out names he had never heard before. "Maybe more of an Adder..."

"Like a snake?" Beastboy suggested unaware of who she was talking about and for added effect turned into a giant snake and began winding around Lash. Most people would be creeped out by the sensation of a snake hug but Beastboy assumed Lash wouldn't exactly. She wasn't after all most people.

"Yeah exactly like that!" Lash was too amazed at the fact he'd guess that right and not realizing Adder was a type of snake. "He was pretty much a snake when you thought about it." She mimicked his voice. "I follow the ssstrong." She rested her entire body on the scales. Maybe it was time to get serious. For a bit anyway.

"So, now that you're the leader of the Outsiders, any plans on what to do?"

Beastboy the snake shook his head and shifted back so he was standing behind her, just to keep her on her toes.

"I got nothing. I mean I guess we could do more movie nights and stuff but that's only doing so much. I feel like there's gotta be something that can bring us together like a family you know? Or at the very least like friends. So it can't just be training."

Good thing Lash had gotten some quick reflexes from sentai training or she would have fallen down.

"You can't make people too soft either," Lash reminded him. "Remember we're to fight the Ohm. The idea last time was a pretty good one; we've got to improve our group training." She pondered some more. "Maybe something like track and field? Or a shooting lesson. Or have days which one of us teachers everyone else something. Remember, friendship is good for bonding but Black Hole always taught me that if you put your emotions first in a war, that's when you've already lost."

Beastboy sweatdropped and rocked on his heels, "You've got a point I guess...but we're not even really a team yet. That last training session everyone was just doing their own thing." He paused and added, "And it's not always a bad thing so long as you can balance emotions and duty ya know? Sometimes caring and trusting your teammates is all that can keep you on your feet."

"I...guess." The whole concept was still alien to Lash, despite being part of a ranger team. "Black Hole wasn't big on emotional anything. But I guess the whole trusting and caring is a lot of what Orange Star was about. Anyway...maybe that's what you should do first. Get everyone to work as a team. Something that could build up friendship and teamwork."

"That's as good a place to start as any." He agreed and struck a dramatic pose, "I can do this! I'll make this team a real...uh...team. And more then that a family. We'll kick butt, take names and have fun every day!"

"Yeah! Now you just have to figure out how!" A small task, really.
