Time to Relax, or otherwise [Open Bathhouse post, all welcome!]

Apr 05, 2011 12:16

With the great help she had received from a good deal of interested crew members, the construction and upgrade to the bathhouse had proceeded rapidly and smoothly. The second more open floor looked as much a part of the bathhouse as any other, with enough room and supports to easily allow crew members as large if not larger than herself to access ( Read more... )

Co-ed, FURTHEST BATH FROM OTHERS POSSIBLE morphitudinous April 6 2011, 01:59:46 UTC
Even with the new level of paranoia he'd attained since meeting their dear emperor of evil, Billy was somewhat consciously aware that he needed to relax at times. The invitation from Celena to visit the renovated bathhouses was a perfect opportunity to do three things: 'relax', strategize, and test the enhancement to his personal morphing device ( ... )

What do you mean, tension and imminent danger, the only danger coming at you right now was Lash doing one of her patented Lash Waterbombs(tm) into the body of water.

You know, if you weren't sure the morphers weren't waterproof, this was totally the best way to test them.

That danger (well, the sound of it anyway) is enough to scare Billy. Even before she's fully in view, he's halfway to his feet with the morpher thrust in front of him. Those footballs and that noise---it could be a putty, right?

"Tricera---"

...oh, it's just Lash, he realizes, sinking back into the water with a new coat of it splattered on him.

"...tops. Good morning Lash." Someone's replacing the towel on his lap and looking none too happy.

There's a none-too-well disguised snicker from Jamie, who's wandered in with a towel slung over his shoulder. He darts nimbly to one side to avoid some of the water that Lash has oh-so-kindly sent everyone's way, then goes to climb into the tub in a much more restrained manner.

"Ye should see the look on your face, Billy."

"Tee hee! You should see it," Lash agreed, doing a quick swimming around the water to see just how deep part of it could go. At one point all that remained was a a bush of hair floating on top like a dead dog.

Billy blinked at the floating afro, then at Jamie's laughter. For them, he had only one question, which he would ask---after sitting back down and re-covering himself, morpher in the same place as ever.

"Do you have your morphers with you?" No, no one's worried, not at all...

Jamie takes one look at the expression on Billy's face, and his amusement quickly dissipates. More somber now, he nods. "Aye, I have."

He settles in - still careful with the morphers, for all that they're waterproof now. It's not like he doesn't wear them most of the time anyway, but the fact he can wear them here as well is a very good thing in his mind. Once Lash resurfaces, he turns a rather serious look her way.

"Lash, do ye have yours?"

"The water is really go-" she stops when the question is asked of her and, having not heard anything of what they had been saying shrugs. "Got what?"

"Your morpher," Billy answers dryly, holding up his. "Don't worry, it's waterproof. I just...would rather not be without mine, especially not now."

It's as if the soap is going to become a monster at any moment.

"Oh! Right!" She removed the white towels she had tied around her wrists to hide it away. "I figured I'd cover it up. Not that people couldn't find out, considering." She looked at Billy again.

"You look really tense." There was no gently stepping around it when it came to Lash. "Don't let it take over your life, or you'll end up miserable." It's not like she used to cause people to be paranoid like that. That would be silly.

"Aye. It's a bit late for that now, isn't it?" Jamie rubs at the back of his neck for a moment, and sighs.

"Look, Lash has a point, though, Billy. Anyone who takes a look at ye will know you're distracted by something. I'm not saying it's not without good reason, but..."

He trails off, not quite wanting to say it out loud, but if Billy keeps up like this, Zedd won't have to do anything. Billy'll manage to sabotage himself all on his own.

Billy grimaced, knowing that they were right. This was tiring, painful, and between the intensified training sessions, longer hours, and shorter sleep, he was definitely wearing himself down. The soreness he felt now was more than proof of that.

"I can't just let my guard down," he answered, though his body language suggested otherwise. His arms crossed over his chest, hands gripping the upper arms and head bowed lightly. "Before...it was easier. Zordon could use his technology to monitor him and forewarn us of attacks. Here, I don't have that to rely on. I have to watch and prepare on my own."

"Maybe we could build a tiny microchip and hide it on his person. You know, a tiny little wee thing that could stick to all those dumb metal plates he seems to have. In my world, micro-technology was pretty advanced, I bet he'd never, ever notice."

She leaned into the bath, uncaring if she happened to be in the middle of two guys. She'd done worse in her war days.

"But I think the both of us agree that you really need to relax. If you let Zedd get to you, you'll just drive yourself into a corner, and he won't have even lifted a finger for you to do it. Just dumb words."

"Hey, I wonder if that would work?" It definitely sounds like it has possibilities to Jamie, but would it even be something that Billy would want to do? Assuming they could get it to work at all.

"I could see if the Doctor has something that might help, too." Not that he has any idea what that might be exactly, but it'd be something worth looking into. "If nothing else, he might have some ideas about it."

"We could always get Zetta to fight him," Lash offered. "Or a lot of other people on the ship. Seriously, no matter how much power he might have, he'll find himself outmatched, outsmarted and outgunned." She seemed pretty confident about it too.

"So leave the worrying to us and just relax for now."

And with that, she sank down to the water level, swallowed a bunch of water and spit it out near his face.

Wow, that sounded needlessly dirty.

"I think Zetta's hostile to him on his own," Billy mumbled, though he saw their points. There were other options, ideas that just might work----he saw the limitation of them all, of course, but combined with a magic tracker they just might survive.

Their suggestion that he was letting Zedd beat him without even lifting a claw hit hard too, causing him to look properly ashamed of his behavior. "I've been that bad, huh? I'm sorry. I know what it's doing to me, so I'll try to---"

He said all that to Lash's sunken afro and was promptly surprised when he tilted his head the wrong way, splattered with water.

"...stop myself," he grouched, rubbing at his cheek. This was going to be a long day. Lash had helped to snap him out of it, at least. Billy found himself slumping against the back wall in surrender, taking a deep breath, and looking more grouchy than paranoid. Deeply breathing in the steam seemed to help.
