"Wee-tah-kah-loo-loo..."

Howard was too young to catch the Furby craze in 1999, but he sure knows about them from Youtube videos of them being used in prank calls. What he didn't realize was that the off-switch was either impossible to find or non-existent. So it was with mild curiosity and, as is turns out, crushing naivete that he picked it up ( Read more... )

"What if we only volunteer appropriate names?" Sakura renters the Bay after having tried to pretend the Furby would have vanquished itself.

"If the name isn't Beelzebub, it's not an appropriate name for this thing." He glares at Cassie. Can't she see what serious business this is? This stupid Furby's going to give him nightmares for a week.

Cassie frowned. "FantastiFurby is an appropriate name. He's like one of the Fantastic Four. He can be their mascot."

None of these names make any sense to Sakura. The Fantastic Four? Beelzebub? "I was thinking along the lines of something more annoying. FantastiFurby sounds so grandiose."

"Good, Cassie! Take it to the 616! We don't want it here!" He makes a cross sign with his fingers as if he were warding off something unholy. "You guys can call it Jesus Christ for all I care, just someone kill it."

The Furby started cackling once Howard finished speaking. Cassie patted its head.

"It's a superhero name." Gosh, what planet did these people live on? "And just what is 616 supposed to mean?"

Sakura casts a judicious eye on the Furby. "He's been acting more like a supervillain if you ask me. Next he'll be hiring ninja lackies."

Thanks, Kon. Now she knows it's possible. "I'm not taking any job offers, that's all I have to say."

"If this thing is a superhero, truth, justice and the American way are all doomed. Cassie, this thing is either going to cost me my sanity or my job," he gestures at Sakura, "and I'm totally finding a way to implicate you too, Mizundastood, so Cassie, can you please just put it down and we'll get a laser cannon from Engineering or something."

He ignores her question about the 616 entirely, because he totally doesn't want to explain that moment of geekery. Besides, Cassie's annoying him.

"If you hate it so much why not give it to me? Seriously, it's just a toy."

Yup, the Furby was still cackling.

Sakura quirks an eyebrow up, not so sure how anyone is going to be implicating anyone when it comes to Devil in the Voicebox McToy over there. "I don't think it qualifies as safe for anyone at this point," she says, eying the Furby. "Too much damage. Really, it just needs to be decommissioned."

"I want to see that thing dead," Howard says bluntly, then turns to Sakura. "Wait, you're a ninja?"

Cassie also looked at Sakura. And the Furby finally shut up.

"Wah boo!"

Well, it shut up for a moment.

Sakura looks between the both of them. "Yes," she says, "I am."

Really, that feels like a whole conversational thread ago.

"...So we've got a Furby that can outsmart a ninja."

Cassie looked from Howard to Sakura to the Furby. "Uh wait, how has this Furby outsmarted a ninja? How many people have tried to kill it?"

"Out-what?" She frowns. "Yes, I can deduce from its brilliant escape from Med Bay and the confused looks on our faces that it's outfoxed us all."

Thus she decides to ignore Howard outright, focusing on Cassie instead. "At least four of us, I think. I haven't been here keeping track the whole time. Once it start in with the foul language and the bad -- statements, I was done with it."
