Why not have a beach party? ...Well alright, her first thought had been 'why not have a war party' but then she wisely realized that not everyone would enjoy something like that. But everyone had enjoyed the time they had spent on the beach a year ago! ...At least until the Ohm came and

"Hm?" Hoshi asked as she saw the ball in the air. Oh, so Sakura wanted to play a game, then? Great!

She quickly turned around and gave the ball a hard smack, sending it over the net back to Sakura. "Your turn!" she shouted, standing poised and ready for when the ball would come back to her side.

The entire set-up had been by chance, yet once Sakura heard Hoshi's call, she grinned and sized up the situation. So they were going to keep the ball going over the net, were they? "Haa!" she called out, dashing to the left in order to send the ball back in Hoshi's direction. "Back to you, Hoshi-san!"

Hoshi watched where the ball was going as she moved her feet over in its' direction. She formed a triangle with her hands, sending the ball up, but yet not getting it over the net. She ran through the sand and sent it up with using her arms to get it over the net.

This caused her to fall a bit into the sand, but she quickly recovered by pushing herself up again. "Try to get it now, Sakura!"

Were ninjas not supposed to be cheap? Sakura was playing normal, which meant her slide through the sand to pop the ball straight up was at traceable speed, much like her follow through bringing both wrists up together to send the ball arcing back over the net at an angle.

Sakura was left bending over backward at enough of an angle to see where the ball had gone. Look at it head for the back corner!

Hoshi tried to catch just where the ball was going, however she wasn't fast enough to hit the ball back over. It landed in the sand and so did her when she went after it.

"Good round, Sakura!" she said, grinning while she was in the sand itself.

"Thanks!" Sakura dropped an arm down and then spun herself around, landing in a crouch in the sand. She grinned, shaking her head. "I was expecting a game of keep the ball in the air. What did I end up walking into?"

Hoshi picked herself up from the ground and dusted herself off, sitting up a bit. "Volleyball! It's sort of like 'keep the ball in the air', but it's more competitive and has some special techniques to play it!"

"Volleyball? The sport Zouichi was telling me was half invented so that perverts had an excuse to be perverts?"

"Eh?" Well, now you have her confused, Sakura. "Not... necessarily. At least I don't think so. I've played it a bit in gym class, but it's never been for the sole excuse for perverts to be perverts."

Sakura shrugged. "He only mentioned it was a partial excuse. Maybe that was just in his time?" If kids were playing this in school, that just disturbed her otherwise. "So it's a team sport?"

"Who knows? I'd have to ask him or something," replied Hoshi, still lost for words on the whole matter itself. "But, yeah. It is. Usually, you have about five or so people lined up to serve and make sure the ball doesn't hit the ground. If it does, the opposing team scores a point, stuff like that."

"That's ten for a proper game then, huh?" She looked at the people gathered on the beach. "Seems like we should be able to rally that many people up if you want to play a fully volleyball game."

"More or less," Hoshi stated. "And, hey, only if you really want to! I don't mind a one-on-one game with you, though."

[haruno]

"Why not try asking around? If no one bites, then it'll be you and me," she said with a grin. "Their loss."

[radiantcourage]

"Sure. Wanna come with?" asked the beyblader while she returned the grin herself.

Sakura nodded, and they were off!
