The City didn't have weather as most people knew it, but it was nonetheless a beautiful day - warm weather with a nice breeze, Stacy's sun-equivalent shining in the sky... almost as if it was reflecting the emotions of at least one of the ship's crew. In the middle of the Park, someone had set up a little white lattice archway amongst the hedgerows

She pauses, looks around again. "Everyone should be seated by now and they aren't, I'm sure people are knocking the arrangements loose or sitting on each others' programs..."

She comulsively checks her pockets. Rings are still there, okay. "I don't...know, Negi," she admits.

"Breathe," said Negi. He would pat her shoulder, but he knew Signum looked close to having more frayed edges than a well worn carpet. "Take a deep breath, and try to relax a little. The little things won't ruin everything, as long as you have the important things."

Signum takes the kid's - and she knew, like Vivio, he was a kid regardless of his physical state - advice, calming herself the same way she would before battle.

"All weddings are is little things, apparently. And one big thing that these two already committed to years ago," she says, frustration edging into her voice. "Vows are good, but so much ceremony...they wouldn't have asked for anything if it wasn't important, so I'd better make sure everything is perfect, right?"

Negi chuckled softly, nodding. "I understand. This is a really big day for them, and it'd be a shame if something was out of place."

He smiled at Signum. "You're not nervous are you? I mean, these are your friends getting married."

"I'm only nervous about making sure there are no screwups here that I can prevent. They're perfect for each other and honestly could have done this years ago," Signum says, harsh tone of, yes, nervousness belying her attempt at being affectionate and approving.

At least Negi wasn't the dense kid of months ago in his reckoning or he'd never pick up on that tone of hers. "I'll bet," said Negi, nodding. "Two people who love one another really deserve this happiness. How come they took so long to do it?"

"...you know, I don't know," Signum determines. "Workaholism, maybe?"

"I can relate to that," said the workaholic kid teacher. "People say I do that too much as well."

"I get around the problem by not caring about my social life, but people like these two really ought to slow down and enjoy themselves like this more often," Signum says, admitting her own tendency to overwork obliquely. "And you're what, 11 years old?"

"Yeah, though I was ten when I began teaching," said Negi. "My students force me to have a social life to be honest. I was never too good at having fun."

"Fun is relative," is all Signum says to that.

Realizing she's gotten distracted - and how helpful being distracted has been - Signum waves Negi toward a seat. "I've got to get up front for the ceremony."

"Thank you."

Negi nodded. "Save me a dance later, if you don't mind." He heads over to sit down, amused and glad he could help at the same time.

"Right, after..."

She pauses after he's already out of earshot. Did he just ask her to dance?

It's enough of a shock to clear her mind completely before she heads up to stand next to Fate, at least.
