Nice article. I wonder how this will play in the EU, with their widespread resistance to bio-modified foods. I understand that it's not necessarily a modification of the food, and rather the addition of an anti-bacterial agent (in the form of virii), but I know that some eyebrows will definitely be raised!

Phage and human microflora

It's surpising that this is being approved without studying it's effect on the gut microflora of humans... It's true that we occasionally ingest phage normally, but this could potentially be on a regular basis, and at a much higher dose. My guess is that you would see some alteration in the overall makeup of the bacterial population, unless this phage is highly specific for just Listeria. In that case it should be no problem.
