Christopher Walken, dead things, and somewhere in Amsterdam

Aug 07, 2006 21:36

For years now I've had this weird mental block. One day I couldn't remember Christopher Walken's name. This kind of thing happens once in awhile so although it was annoying I didn't think much of it at the time. But it went on for years. Every time I tried to mention him in conversation I just couldn't come up with his name. It's not like he's an ( Read more... )

i have the same problem with chaz palminteri. i mean the name-forgetting, not the flopping around in my ravioli. i always want to call him joe mantegna and then danny aiello. then i remember his name.

I can see getting them confused as they're all short-haired, middle-aged oblong-faced mafia type dudes. When I was a kid I used to get Tom Hanks and Michael Keaton mixed up. If I'd known Tim Curry at the time I'm sure he would have been in there too.

Fortunately the moth wasn't flopping around, he was way dead. I suspect he died in my cabinet and fell in the pot. I usually check pots when I pull them out of the cabinet but this time I didn't.

I would have done the same with the ravioli. But I wouldn't have been able to tell anyone about it. Mike woulda KILLED me. He's got issues with food and dishes.......

I mean, you're BOILING them, right? So what's the harm?

Mmmm.......raviolis.

I have issues with food and dishes too (though I guess not as bad as Mike) as well as bugs, which is why it's so surprising that I was able to do what I did. But I would have been more concerned with a cockroach or fly or something that feeds on blood. I don't think of moths as carrying disease.

Yes. Mmmm.......raviolis. The perfect food. :)

It's from an old ad I found on plan59.com. I forget what the ad was for specifically but it was probably for meat in general. There are a whole bunch of those.

I think I could cope with the moth in the ravioli... for some reason, moths are rather non-threatening in my mind.
I did have an awful experience with meal-worms in oatmeal once, though, and let me tell you - that'll turn you off of Quaker-products for a while. *shudders*

Haven't gotten around to watching the commercials yet - but I will! Your links are always awesome. :)

Aww, thanks. :)

And ugh, I can totally relate to your mealworm experience. When I was a kid there were little worms in one of my Butterfinger bars that I'd gotten for Halloween. It freaked me the hell out and I didn't eat Butterfinger for several years after that. So yeah, I know what you mean.

Yeah, moths are non-threatening. The thing that bothers me most about them is that they're fuzzy, and I don't want fuzzy things in my food. But they're pretty cool as far as bugs go. They're up there with butterflies, ladybugs, lightning bugs, and dragonflies. :)
