Hey, I just started using LJ and noticed your post. Have you tried the Internet Archive? I found a couple pages of your site that work. I don't want to post the link to your pages because it's a fragile, but very useful tool. It's http://www.archive.org - then just type in the url. It might be enough to grab the html.
That's too bad they took it down, it seems so random since it's been there for so long. SQ
Sorry to hear this, your site was one of the best sites out there. In fact, it probably was the best since you updated frequently and you are so open and honest about your journey. It probably has something to do with the photos of you pre-top (I know a lot of guys have had problems with their pre-surgery pics on sites like tripod and geocities) and even photo hosting sites like webshots. I hope this is worked out, I think your site helped a great deal of people and will continue to do so if it's rebuilt. BTW, can you recommend any books on Butch identity or Butch/Femme history? Or anything B/F that isn't fluff?
Thanks for your comments. I'm doing what I can to get it back up. It's a slow process, because I don't have a lot of free time and I've got a lot to re-organize.
There is a lot out there in terms of BF reading. Have you checked out Boots of Leather, Slippers of Gold? It's got a lot of great first person interviews with butches and femmes who lived in the 40's and 50's. That's probably where I'd start. The Persistent Desire is another classic, it's an anthology of writings by and about butches and femmes. Some of it may seem outdated or hokey but it's an important piece to read, IMO.
As far as novels go, of course there is Stone Butch Blues, but for a change of perspective I'd also reccommend A Chrystal Diary and pretty much anything by Red Jordan Arobateau, although those can be hard to come by as a lot of it's out of print.
I also really love S/He by Minnie Bruce Pratt

Thanks for the reading list. I like older B/F stuff too. I guess I'm more or less into that particular culture than the newer one -- though I wouldn't consider myself old school in every aspect. I'm just a trans / stone butch.
As for the web site, if you rebuild, you can always write out the entire code and leave it on your computer as well as make sure there's a current email containing the code(s) just in case your computer goes. This way you can easily rebuild. I'm currently working on a new site, because I'm current site is shit and I'm doing it that way just in case geocities knocks me off the internet for whatever reason.
BTW, mind if I add this journal as well as your kpscapes journal to my flist?

You can recover a lot of your site from this link.

You have one of the best sites around and I hate to see it go. Good luck with it.
