1866 - Wassily Kandinsky
This Russian artist is credited with painting some of the first modern abstract painting. He was also an instructor at the Bauhaus school of art in Germany. Several of his "Compositions" pieces were destroyed by Nazis after they raided the Bauhaus and collected the "degenerate art".
