Did you change the custom options from the journal display page? I've noticed that sometimes that deletes the code.

Yes, I did. What do I need to do then, find the appropriate code for the changes I made and put them all in my theme layer? Or is there an easier way to fix it? ...because like I said above, I am a bit stupid when it comes to things like this.

The new code is probably in the theme layer, so you only have to add again the code for the emoticons.

I got it to work! When I went back to my layers, I noticed that there was a user layer that was created when I customized the journal using the wizard.. so, I added the code in that layer (instead of the theme layer) and compiled it. and now they are working.
