Matt and I played tennis tonight - it was fun, and I could see the harbor from the court.
1. First Name:
Sarah - yes it's as boring as that
2. Age:
30 and I will be next year too, in fact probably for the next 5 years I'll be 30. True story, my mother was thirty when I was born, and she was still thirty when I entered high school and started wondering about that.
3. Location:
Sheboygan WI, home of the "brat fry" also home of Johnsonville and Old Wisconsin
4. Occupation:
Senior Supplier Quality Engineer. When asked I tell people "basically that means I get to tell people what to do, and walk around feeling smug." if pressed I'll elaborate to "I visit suppliers and tell them what they are doing wrong and how to fix it so that we'll keep buying product from them."
5. Partner:
Matt -
6. Kids:
not yet
7. Brothers/Sisters:
Yes, I have 2 older stepbrothers, Rob and Rick. I also have an older 1/2 brother Durrin as well as a younger 1/2 sister and brother. I like to say I've had it all: the middle child, the oldest and youngest and the baby...it just works out that way because of my position in age in the family. My mother had my brother and then 8 years later with a different father I came along. My father had me and then 9 years later with different woman had my little sibs...It's complicated I know.
8. Pets:
4 cats. Boo-Boo, Moo-Moo, Gu-Gu & Duke (or Du-Du to follow the pattern)
9. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:
a. Panting the Dining room of the house Matt and I moved into in May.
b. Buying a new roof and roof top deck for the house - The deck is so that we can sit on our second floor balcony and take in the view of Lake Michigan from 3 directions. The roof is to fix the leak we have when it storms.
c. I guess my new job - but it's not that big a deal really; I've been at it for more than 2 months and while I don't know everything yet, it's not that different than my old jobs, just in a different location.
d. Dreaming of how the "Alterations" will change our life
10. Where and for what did you go to school?:
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy NY. I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. To date I still feel that becoming an engineer is the single biggest individual accomplishment of my life. It's really important to me.
11. Parents?
My Mother was the Chairperson of Computer Science for a long time at Triton College... She also fancies herself a farmer and now has a 100+ acre farm that she uses to raise sheep, chickens and anything else that she fancies. If the economy every comes crashing down around us and it looks like we'll need to be able to be "self-sufficient" I have plans to head to the farm, it's more than big enough to support us with food and shelter.
My Stepfather was a Psychologist at Reed Mental Health Center until he retired. Now he is an old guy in like 4 different bands. Most notably he plays the bagpipes, as often as possible. It has it's upsides, bagpipes at a wedding can't be beat, and I got to go to Scotland when I was in college because of the bagpipe band he was in.
My Father is a double amputee type II diabetic who holds a PHD in math, he has some kind of theorem in group theory...it's out there, I have a copy of his dissertation, but I can't read it.
My dad is married to another woman, who is the mother of my little sibs, I am unwilling to claim her as a parent - she is just too out there for me. But she may not be all bad - just really strange.
12. Who are some of your closest friends?
Other than Matt I don't have any really close friends. If I were to talk to someone other than Matt about something important, and it wasn't my mother it would probably be Lisa, maybe Laura, and possibly Nora or Silvia...it's hard to say really...I don't like to talk about important things. I just don't like to let people in.
