LATE ride 2008

Jul 10, 2008 20:51

So Matt and I are making a trek to Chi town for the LATE ride this weekend, we've done it several years in a row for his birthday (tues) and this year will be no exception.

That said we were thinking about eating dinner at the Korean BBQ place, anyone want to join us?

I guess I never update - for any number of reasons not the least of which is I can't spell and it's a hassle to spell check in LJ.... but the bigger reason is I'm pretty sure no one will be interested in what I have to say, and it's not like I like talking about myself.

However I feel like I ought to post a little about life in "the Sheb." So far so good, there are several great restaurants, even a British pub that is fun to go hang out in. I love wakening up every day to look at the lake, and it's great to live somewhere where we can just get on our bikes and ride around w/o first having to drive somewhere or ride on busy streets. Also I like it here - I like that it's a town that has an identity. So there are things to do here, in town, which connect one to the community. It's different than the suburbs of Chicago, many of which do have there own identity, but have to compete with Chicago for "air time" as it were. It's true I felt a kind of community when I lived in Oak Park, but never in Oak Forest... so we’ll see how that develops.

Work - well you know its work. I'm on some interesting projects, and with any luck I'll be going to Korea in Nov/Dec time frame for one of the more "technical" projects I'm on. I have responsibility for a little of everything, kitchen, showering, lav's and accessories. I can go into the difference in each of these things, but I'm sure it will bore anyone to pieces who has managed to read this far.

Well I guess that's it, work and fun... what more can there be to update on? Oh we had a really great 4th, the fireworks are shot off the lake, and it is the one day a year that the city allows open fires on the beach. So we went down the hill to the beach with a bundle of wood, some marshmallows and a couple of camp chairs and had one of my top firework experiences ever. It was so great.

If anyone is interested in visiting, we are happy to host, and have a dedicated guest room...it may still be decorated as a nursery from the former owners, but it has a fluffy bed and a view of the lake.
