Japan has no dryers? Does everyone hang their laundry out on lines?

do you sign in at work to see your friends page? if so, try logging out and see if you can log out other open sessions. i know that used to be an option. anyway, if you can manage to log out of your home session while at work, you should be able to interact with lj after signing on again. (though i can't really think why being in hibernate would have that effect. i regularly sign in at work and can post and comment while my home machine is awake and signed in. you do mean hibernate, and not standby, right?)

oh, sorry, i wasn't clear: lj is blocked by my school internet. i can't interact with the site whatsoever at school without getting one of those "intersafe" screens. however, if i log in before i hibernate my computer, i guess the cookies are still active when i start it up at work, since my firefox session never actually ended. i can read my friends page and navigate around the lj site, but i can't post comments, post entries, answer polls, or do anything else that requires sending data to lj, including log in.

ah, it all becomes clear now. my attempt to fix your problem has been thwarted, but my geekdom lives on. i am content. and glad that you hibernate your computer before taking it to work.
