Personally, I'm not a big fan of the Everyone-Must-Buy-A-House philosophy. It's undeniable that it's a good financial move, but I think most people overestimate the importance of optimizing your financial strategy. From what I have read, once you are comfortably above the poverty line, more money and better investing can't make you happier. Making poor choices can add a lot of stress, but deciding to wait another year or two doesn't qualify as such a poor choice. As for your current situation, I say get out of it. If you're just renting now, then go ahead and rent until you feel like moving. If you know you want to move somewhere else in a couple of years, then don't bother with owning a house in Orange County ( ... )

cost of living was a factor in both of the areas i mentioned above. the washington state area is slightly higher than the denver, but still in the 200 range for a very nice, which was the downpayment made on my condo in orange county.

i'm actually not looking for excitement in my next job. i was thinking of getting involved with the parks somewhere, or possibly doing something part time. the wife and i have been trying plan around having kids, and we both agree that life would be better for everyone involved if someone stayed home with them, and she doesn't want to give up teaching. so perhaps a summer seasonal position with a local or state park after we move. something i can either do or not do depending on finances and family demands, but that would still get me out and about when i needed it to.

1. Talk it over with your wife. See what she thinks.
2. Is the family name Martin, or Harold Walter/Walter Harold? In either case...I'd vote 'no' on both. I vote you use names of your WoW characters for the kids.
3. Move to FL! That would be awesome! And it isn't dry at all! Lots of sunshine, lots of rain, definitely wetter than CA! Plus, it's pretty close to New England. Also, there's a shortage of teachers in ALL subjects here...esp. special ed, which last I heard, Bashful_Dwarf wanted to teach.
4. Teach computer programming at Stetson! Or, I do believe there is a game company based in Orlando. Can't remember which one, though.

Please move to FL! Move next year! It'd be awesome!

1. I have, but she doesn't have a strong opinion.
2. No no, the family name, as in surname, as in last name.
3. We did actually discuss that, but florida is a little too warm for me in the summer time, I'd rather go someplace cooler, and the wife didn't seem too very attached to the idea, so we didn't pursue it further than that. She also suggested Massachusets, Virginia, and New Hampshire. She would most prefer new hampshire or denver, and since denver is on my list too...
4. Regrettably, I don't think i have the mental fortitude to teach anything anywhere.

2. Storm Carne...Storm would be a cool first name...but Storm Carne sounds a little weird. Maybe it's just me. My vote lies with your WoW character names.
3. New Hampshire would be cool...I'm still voting for FL, though. Very selfish reasons, I admit. New Hampshire can have the secondary vote.
4. I think you do, for Stetson at least. Very intelligent students (the CS/math kids are generally around as intelligent as I am. Well, smarter, but their lack of common sense sometimes brings them back down to my level!) There's also the game company in Orlando (still can't remember the name).
