do you ever get the feeling you're chasing a slow-moving elevator?

i did today. i was going up to my office on the 4th floor from the basement when i heard industrial sounds of machinery and at the end of every flight i heard a ding coming from the adjacent wall. i think i might have actually been racing a slow-moving elevator.

* nearly ten-yaer-old jeans
* trying to guess the shape of a letter by the sound a pencil makes
* the "who's the cutest boy in my class?" game
* banana phones
* arguing
* vernors ginger ale
* photomicrographs
* escapist entertainment

so, i am really just that bad at understanding and working within bureaucratic systems. nothing any officeperson every says to me makes any sense, and i am realizing more and more that i don't seem to make much sense to them. it makes me feel like getting myself set up for grad school is going pretty badly, but then i remember that starting out as ( Read more... )

why do people (human beings) have such a hard time with empathy? You'd think because it is so useful, even though it is so hard, we'd work at it a little more than we do, but no dice. people just don't try.

you can imagine the rant i'd follow that with, right? 'kay. 'nuff said.

i'm always looking for new grand ways to avoid doing any work on anything that could amount to anything.

i'm jealous of everyone more capable than i am. that's probably just about everybody. who cares how smart you are if you can't make things happen?
