waistband how-to_anemone_May 21 2008, 19:55:16 UTC
sure, it was pretty easy. i just cut off the original waistband at the height (plus seam allowance) that i desired, and made a new one using the leftover fabric that i had from cutting the lower leg off. i guesstimated the right curvature for the waistband by working off another pair of pants that fit the way i wanted these to. i cut a facing from a contrasting fabric, attatched the two together, right sides together, along the top and sides of the peices. i attach the waistband to the pants (red fabric only), then pressed flipped it right side out, pressed the facing in, and topstitched the whole shebang. i don't think i'm explainging this very well, but it's standard waistband procedure as far as i know! the only trick is getting the waistband the right shape so it lies flat, and actually, i don't have any tips for that part - ha. good luck! i hope you will try and post pics of your results! cheers, anemone

mind passing along a little how to info on how you altered the waist line of the pants? I'd love to know how to do that!
