Music???

Along with my fancy new iPod, I got an iTunes gift card for Christmas.  It's for $25, so I can get a couple albums.  So I was on iTunes and I was searching for bands that I listen to, and they had them because they have nearly everything.  But I couldn't bring myself to buy anything.

I mean, jesus, do I really need another Clash album?  Or the one

put in your favorite bands in the search bar and it plays similar stuff. i've found some pretty great music from that site.

also, one of the guys in the clash is in a band called carbon silicon now. i haven't really heard it, but it's been getting a bit of attention lately.

When I got stuck in a rut like that (and realized that I didn't really like any of the new music I was hearing all that much), I just started going backwards. What I've been listening to a lot lately (and will probably start buying again, when I can afford it)is mostly old soul, blues, and funk. Otis Redding, the Ikettes, Booker T. and the MG's (pretty much anything from the Stax catalogue)....

You may enjoy this, but actually one of my criteria (not the only one, by far, but it's in there) is if it was either in, or sounded like it could have been in, a John Waters movie. Some things never change. :)
