Have you tried putting a new hard drive into it? If the internal drive conked out, that's easily handled. If it's the blu-ray drive or the motherboard, not so much.
Especially if it's the motherboard.. I don't think Sony has any more of those even available to repair original BC models. ;-(
yeah, exactly the same pattern with the 160 gig drive i had been using, the original 20 gig, and with no drive at all.
i suspect it was maybe something in the fan controller. not the fan itself, because i know the fan was spinning up. but lately it was always at the slowest speed, and never kicked into a higher speed, and i can't remember how long it's been since it has been like that.
