IF you go back in my LJ, there's a timeline of this kind of behaviour and random bannings he has performed on people for pretty minor transgressions. God forbid if you have a different opinion.

There's a certain clique in that comm that can get away with murder but he singles individuals out that he disagrees with and they silently "disappear" without having a chance to challenge him.

Moderation isn't about threats or stuff like this, he leaps into the fray at any given point, shifts the arguments and stifles any kind of discourse. He still employs those shitty "strawman" defences for any point he feels does not fit his ideology. Passive aggressive banning is one thing, but a private message to any transgressor is much more appropriate:

Don't do it again, please: this was a good post, and it'd be a shame if you weren't able to make more like it

To quote the above, I'd be ashamed of myself if I ever posted veiled threats like this on any comm I moderated.

...hate to say it, but there's a reason I started a DW costuming community AWAY from Gallifrey Base / Outpost Gallifery. Fleeing in terror from unforgiving veterans had a lot to do with it...

As a former resident of Brighton, I'd rather we didn't scorch the place off the face of the planet. :) FWIW, asshats like this are a minority. Brighton is really a very groovy town - there's a reason the first WorldCon in Britain was held there. ;)

(and the fans who are whining over Change Happening? Can suck it. If they haven't gotten used to the idea, yet, there's no saving 'em)

heh, maybe the scorched earth policy on Brighton was a little hasty ;)

Change Happening? There's a change?? ;)

Joking apart, I wrote my diss on fandom (X-Files) and those peeps were the most wonderful, caring sharing people ever. It's stuff like the above that make me ashamed to be part of this and really takes the shine off the programme. Freedom of speech? Having our own thoughts?

Just been hit with it myself, in reference to cross posting my current Who post on my LJ.

Seriously, that group is a fucking disgrace.

More unethical modding (thehornedgod) or just the usual bone headed stuff?
