Portland on a budget
Hello all -
I currently live in Boise, Idaho. I want to transfer to Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Before I decide to go to school in Portland I want to travel to the city and check it out. I have a few questions ...
1. Has anyone ever travelled on a Greyhound bus or on Amtrak for a trip lasting more than 8 hours? Which is the most convenient/comfortable to take? And, can you sleep on a bus or on the Amtrak?
2. What do I absolutely have to check out if I'm going to Portland to find out more about living there? Any tips from those of you who have lived there are greatly appreciated.
3. I know Portland has a really good public transportation system. Could you tell me what kind of tickets I'll have to buy or give me some idea of the arrangements necessary to arrange some sort of transportation for a weekend? I've never used public transportation before so I'm really lost on how to go about arranging that sort of thing ...
