Blog #1- letter to America

I find it very interesting that you were able to relate "A Letter to America" to your own life; it both simplified and intensified the meaning of the letter, even to me as a reader.
I may suggest, however, that the Americans who sew Canadian (among other) flags on their backpacks while travelling may not be ashamed of their current president but of unfortunate path down which America has travelled as a nation. I agree that some presidents have pushed the country down the "slippery slope," as it were, but I believe that America would have seen some sort of popularity recession regardless of its leader.
As for your question regarding the drastic change: perhaps we should focus less on America's military efforts. Many countries engage in battles to which they were not invited, after all is that not the theory behind war? What about the notion that America's fear for its own demise at the hands of adversaries has in fact caused its downturn? After all, if you put your mind to something, you are more often than not sure to achieve it.

I also noticed that almost all of the Canadians I met had a Canadian flag sewn onto their backpack, and not all of them did it because they were proud to be Canadian, many did it to make sure they weren’t mistaken as an American. I think that says a lot about the reputation America has made for itself. I am glad to hear that in your most recent travels that you have noticed a change for the better ( ... )
