Thailand Days 4 & 5

We got a late start Monday morning. More so because our taxi never showed up :/ So we bummed around most of the morning and then called another cab to pick us up close to 11am. The cab driver that showed up had *6 fingers*. The moment we got into the cab our mouths dropped (Luckily I was wearing sunglasses, but Jonathan literally started to SHAKE like he was having a stroke of some kind-it was kind of funny) The cabbie was really nice, but the finger was just kind of...hanging >_> and the nail hadn't been cut in months it seemed. I spent the rest of the ride into Old City with my face GLUED to the window beside me. It was just too weird!

The Reclining Buddha at Wat Po was actually right next to the palace, where we had been the day before. The thing is HUGE. I didn't expect the statue to be as big as it was! It was definitely a sight to see, and I got as many pictures as one could for such a large artifact up close. Afterwards we decided to take a walk around the area again instead of taking another tuk-tuk (Which is like a motorcycle that fits 2 extra people on the back) to lunch. We had found a restaurant the day before on the water where the long boat dropped us off so we decided to go back and try it out. The view was nice, but the food was pretty bad and LOADED with MSG. Neither of us felt good afterwards and seeing that it was 2:30 and we needed to be somewhere by 5, we went back to the house to take a nap for a bit.

Again, our taxi never showed up. We were supposed to meet Met for dinner at his school. He goes to SASIN for International business and his MBA, which we wanted to take a look around at the campus. Eventually, Jonathan and I just took a walk out to the street ourselves to grab a cab. Sadly, this cab driver had a Mosquito infestation (Ugh). We spent the whole cab ride swatting at them. At first it was kind of funny-like a game to see who could kill the most. But after about 5 minutes of killing all the ones flying around, another 4 or 5 would pop out of nowhere! It was like they were on a constant re-spawn sequence 0.o I jumped out of the cab faster than you could imagine once we stopped.

We found Met and he took us on a quick tour of campus before driving out to dinner. The area we went to had plenty of expats eating around, but the tapas place we ate at was pretty delicious. There is a great clubbing scene in Thailand, but we were still kind of Jet lagged, so we went up to on place called "Long Table" at one of the higher floors of some 4star hotel in the city. The views from the bar were GORGEOUS. You could see a good portion of downtown Bangkok from where we were standing. There was also a large pool in the center of the bar too. It was pretty spectacular. Met even drove us around some of the downtown bars to show us the nightlife of the city before we went home.

Tuesday was a lazy day. Met called in a masseuse and we each had a 2-hour Thai massage! Thai massages are different because they use their entire bodies: Hands, elbows, knees, feet, etc. to stretch you out and give you a deep tissue massage. I loved every minute of it :D We had lunch at the house in between sessions and it was such a nice day out that we all just chilled for the afternoon. Later, Met's mom took us to dinner at a Japanese sushi restaurant and then to the first class movie theatre to see Avatar (Sherlock Holmes isn't out yet, otherwise we would have seen that.) Now, when I say "First Class Movie Theatre" I'm guessing your thinking it was just really nice. The theatre actually has LOUNGE CHAIRS that recline in stadium seating. They have blankets and pillows draped over them for customers to use, and there's a waiter to get you any drink or food item you might want without extra charge. Also, there's a buffet outside for ticket payers. The price? About $18 per person! It was an interesting experience!

Despite how relaxed we were, we didn't make it out to the bars and clubs :( Once the movie ended we were too exhausted to go out again. It will have to be something for me to do on my next trip out here!

Today is our last day in Thailand :( I'm so sad to leave! I really loved it out here! Hopefully Singapore will be just as interesting!
