I told her that people earn the friends that they have. Someone who has nothing but high-value friends has probably made a habit of being a high-value friend over time.

Have you ever noticed that people who are surrounded by nothing but idiots and enemies are most likely people that you wouldn't want as a friend? And people surrounded by the kinds of friends that Wendy has are probably people like Wendy?
