You should get yourself a camera to pass the time. You already have a good perspective on life, and I get the feeling you might have a good eye for catching some good stuff. =)

He used to do photography, actually. There are still a handful of photos in the house that he took and framed. :)

I understand that the blood centers often need volunteers. They try to have people there to get juice or whatever for the donators and generally say thank you when people come and go. So you could think about that, or other non-profits, if you need ideas. ^_^

Personally, I don't think you've been over the top. But I'm also not the biggest puzzle in the family at the moment.
