Title: Trying
Rating: G
Mood: Accomplished
Disclaimer: I certainly don't own it.
Summary: Bart does try. YJ era.
Bart is trying. He really, really is. It's just so hard, because everyone's so slow. It's just so much easier to flit around and explore and find something to do, rather than just sit still for what seems like years waiting for someone to do or say something.
But he's trying, because Rob had asked him too. Bart really likes him, and he really wants Robin to see that he can be responsible and serious and everything that Robin is. Even when he's really tempted to play with the lego in the corner, or steal Cassie's goggles and make her chase him for a bit or start tickling Kon or juggle something or...
He carefully pays attention. Rob finally finishes outlining the plan, and then Bart can finally, finally speed a bit, a he gets to go kick badguy butt and he carefully follows Rob's plan because he can be good, he really can. The day is saved again, and they head back to HQ. Bart is about to zip off to find out if he can make Jello popsicles by bringing a cup of the liquid mixture with a stick in it to the North Pole when Rob's hand comes to rest on his shoulder.
"You did a good job today, Bart," he says, and Bart beams.
"Thanks!"
If Tim notices the kiss to his cheek at superspeed, well it will be just because Bart is impulsive and silly and doesn't know better.
Still, he feels like he's accomplished something, and not just paying attention for longer than five seconds.
