"Hello sweetie. It's about time!"

Without fail, usually when my house goes foster-free, I find my newest 'little' within a few days. Sometimes I find them before my house is foster-free.  Knock on fake wood, it's been a few weeks now with no new sad-sacks around.

So imagine my non-surprise today. I had Ruthie in her carrier on the way to the vet (check-up and vaccinations overdue - ( Read more... )

I went for YEARS without finding any 'littles' to take in. Then three years ago I found Yuki.... then Sammy... and BOOM - off we went. My house has barely been empty since. I mean, I had fosters before then, but they were usually drop-offs via LA from the SCAA. In the past 3 years, I've been finding my own 'cases'. :)

Ah well. I like a full house anyway. :)

Well, he's not enjoying the pillings but he purrs soon after, so I think he forgives me. :)

When I was around 10 or so, outside an aunt's house, a little kitten went straight to me and rubbed itself on me and purred like crazy. Poor thing was skin and bones and I wanted to pick it up and hug it and help it because it looked so desperate. Only to be scolded for touching stray animals that could have all sorts of illnesses and my dad shooing the poor thing. *sigh* I swear I don't know where my love for animals came because it certainly didn't come from my parents (I don't mean that they're cruel to animals, but they're definitely not the "helping strays" kind).

I think my parents would have done the same thing to me (for some reason, I don't recall coming into contact with many strays). Even local pets I was shiied away from. Parents just want to protect their kids - it's understandable. My family didn't have a lot of information on stray animals other than 'ZOMG RABIES, BITES, FLEAS' and 'don't touch, they're sick'.

It's easier now as an adult - I've been educated by a lot of good people at the SCAA and I have options to turn to for help and advice. It's all in your circumstances and right now, it's in my power to help. If I were living in Canada in my mother's house, I'd be turning them away because she doesn;t like cats.

*hugs* Well-wishes and good intentions help though!
